A lot of things were cleared in the new episode. Like, how Eren met Yelena, everyone’s reaction to Marley, Eren’s encounter with Zeke, and a lot more. But one thing that most people could not understand was why Eren chopped his own leg and gouged his eye? Here’s why he choose to do so.
Why Did Eren Cut His Leg And Gouge His Eye
Everyone is mesmerized by the beauty of the Marley nation, but Eren remains unaffected by the things he sees on the other side of the sea. It was Eren’s dream to travel behind the walls, but seeing him all serious, it seemed obvious that Eren had something going on in his mind.
While the discussion was going on related to how the Eldians are mistreated, Eren leaves the meeting to meet Zeke and execute his plan. Eren was an infiltrator on the Marley land, and the only reason he chopped his leg and gouged his eye was to mix well with the Eldian soldiers. Eren needed time to discuss his plans with Zeke and the others. And the only way to buy more time was by injuring himself and getting himself admitted to the hospital by presenting himself as a war soldier. This way, he also averted himself from being the suspected Eldians intruding on Marley’s land.
As planned by Eren, he was then sent to the hospital with other injured soldiers. There he met Falco and made him believe that he was a soldier. Eren gets Falco’s sympathy and uses the little boy to send the letters to his teammates by telling him that the letters are for his family.
