Famous video game designer Hideo Kojima’s love for the horror genre is no secret as he has often publically spoken about his affection for classic horror films and games. However, Kojima recently shared his love for the Taiwanese horror filmIncantationin an offbeat if not disturbing way on social media.

Kojima took to social media to share a photograph that references a curse in the film, which is loosely based on a real incident. However, given the curse’s nature, Kojima might have lightened its effect by sharing it with everyone who follows him. As a result, netizens could not keep their cool about Kojima passing on the curse through social media.

The2022 horror filmIncantationisreportedlyloosely based on a real incident in Gushan District, Kaohsiung. In 2005, a family of six claimed various Chinese deities possessed them. In the film, the possession is spread by seeing the face of an idol of the deity known as Mother Buddha.

Although the curse is fictional, that did not stop netizens from playing along with the ideas propagated by the film. InIncantation, the curse’s effect can only be lightened by passing it on to others, something Ronan does during the climax. As a result, netizens could not stop themselves from drawing parallels between the film and Kojima’s post.

As the tweets indicate, most fans played along with the perception of the curse created by the film and joked that Kojima shared the images of the Mother Buddha idol to dilute its effects. While some X users were disturbed that Kojima would share the allegedly cursed images on social media, most were able to look at the lighter side of it.
