Randy Orton has been an evolutionary force in the WWE ever since his inception. It has been almost 25 years since the world witnessed The Viper for the first time in the squared circle. The man who racked up countless laurels along the way wasn’t exactly the saintly being that the world would always want him to be. Orton lived his life in the kind of persona that he had in his early days. If that had come to television, it could have sparked a crusade of controversies.

WWE veteran, Randy Orton

Randy Orton might have been a babyface, but he is hugely regarded as one of the most sensational wrestling talents across the globe. However, when he started his career, he turned out to be one of the finest heels to have ever featured on the telly, and he lived the character until its very brim.

From creating mischief in the alleys of the hotels that the caravans of WWE halted into being eye candy, Orton did dish out a life of color, envied by many. In a video on social media, WWE wrestlers revealed how Orton always took it a notch higher. Whether it’s partying or wreaking havoc, The Viper was the unequivocal central figure of it all.

Randy Orton’s colorful persona would have been too much to handle for today’s WWE landscape

In a video on social media, wrestlers shared opinions aboutRandy Orton’s wee days in the squared circle. Anthony Carelli, who is as popular as Santino Marella among WWE fans, revealed how Orton would enjoy to the fullest and take things too far.

Everyone likes to party and have a good time, and then he’d take it one step too far.

Marella recounted this incident of how he once created a massive hubbub in the hotel alley. On a trip to Mexico, Orton was determined to try to find a dynamite. He found a hotel with a massive atrium, and while Marella was fast asleep at 3 in the morning, a massive explosion deafened everyone momentarily.

Orton was on the run, throwing down the gauntlet to everyone to spot him if possible. The American Nightmare,Cody Rhodesrevealed how Orton will be late by 45 minutes every day for the bus while dropping mushrooms on people’s heads.

Rhodes also pointed out that Orton’s complete lack of filter and doing them whenever and wherever he wanted was a little scary. The Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels pointed out that at times, Orton would completely disappear on European tours, and he had very little regard for security in those days.

Randy Orton himself turned up in the video and opened up about what exactly was going on back then. He stated that he let the fame get to his head. Orton also pointed out how he let narcissism and vanity creep in and also expressed his belief in the fact that as an entertainer, there is a certain balance that is needed. According to Randy, the best man out there, despite having it all, would know how to control it; however, he had his own set of challenges.

It goes without saying that Orton had his fair share of challenges, but when one plays a heel on screen, it comes with its own set of responsibilities. One had to make the character look hated, and in the pre-social media era, it was all about how the character unfurled in public.

So, hearing all those opinions, it seems WWE CCO Triple H has been right the whole time not to unleash that side of Orton in his current landscape, something that was very much prevalent during the early days of his career when Vince McMahon was in charge and Orton has even served suspensions and fines for the same. This would have been too much to handle under the current product that has been thriving for a year.

Will Randy Orton return for WrestleMania?

With the Showcase of Immortals lined up in the upcoming days, one of the biggest speculations has been about Randy Orton’s appearance. Ever since being inflicted with the Package Piledriver from Kevin Owens on November 8th, 2024 edition of SmackDown, Orton has been sidelined with an injury.

There were obvious expectations about Randy making a return to the squared circle in Royal Rumble, but they were doused as the Viper’s music never hit. This left a lot of fans disappointed apart from themultiple botches and wardrobe malfunctions they witnessed.

Even though no official confirmation has yet been shared, there have been multiple reports of Orton making a possible comeback for WrestleMania. Whether it is going to be Kevin Owens to face the wrath of the Viper or someone else along the way is yet to be decided. It goes without saying that the kind of fan-following that Randy Orton comes to the game with, WWE will be cooking something massive for the big man, hoping to see the crowd erupt to a gigantic pop.
