Attack on Titan‘s mangaka lamented about his decision to let Eren and Mikasa kiss at the end of the series.Attack on Titanis one of the most iconic animes in contemporary times. Its protagonist Eren and his love interest Mikasa have always been a major plot in the show. Fans expected both of them to have one iconic kiss at the end of their roles.

But it looks like Isayama was more shy than them. The mangaka admitted that he wanted Eren and Mikasa to kiss each other but his shyness refrained him from doing so. Now fans have to imagine them kissing because of Isayamas’s restriction. Later he stated that he should have let them have their kiss, such an introvert Isayama is!
Isayama was more embarrassed than Eren and Mikasa
Isayama should be called Mr. Coy because of his shy nature. The mangaka had no shame in killing children and women in his anime but was too restricted to draw a kiss. Maybe he thought it would be so hard for him to draw a kiss. Now fans have to write their version of Eren and Mikasa kissing each other.
Oddly, a creator like Isayama felt shy in terms of drawing a kissing scene. Isn’t this hard to believe? But what else can we do rather than rely on someone else’s capability to endure drawing a kiss as fans? It’s clear that due to utmost embarrassment, he didn’t proceed further but Eren and Mikasa deserved a kiss, it’s so obvious. Even the editors also thought that it was going to happen.

Imagine how it would look like seeingEren and Mikasakissing each other. It’s as iconic as Spiderman kissing Mary Jane. What kind of embarrassment a creator can feel regarding drawing just a gentle kiss is out of grasp for us. And also, rueing the decision later. But anyway, let’s not bash Isayama anymore.Had already had his struggles. A mangaka’s gotta do what a mangaka’s gotta do.
Not doing it before and regretting it later, typical Isayama
In a recent interview, our beloved Isayama revealed that he was an introvert, in other words, he regrets his decision. Quite natural it is, one should regret decisions like not letting lovers kiss.In chapter 50 everyonethought there would be a warm moment between Eren and Mikasa but their creator acted out of his introversion, and everyone missed the kiss they were waiting for.
Hajime Isayama added to his decisionof not letting these two kiss by mentioning that he should have controlled his shyness. And it is quite natural from the perspective of a mangaka to remorse some of his decisions subsequently. There can be different reasons than what Isayama has confessed. He already once stated thatEren’s character helped him to get rid of his darker side.

Hajime Isayama, Who Was in Tears While Apologizing for Attack on Titan Ending, Wasn’t Even Sure He Can Write a Much Awaited Spinoff
But what’s gone is gone.Isayamacannot be blamed fully for this kiss massacre. He is also a human. And most importantly, a creator is connected emotionally with his characters. From that perspective even if he felt that it was a bit odd for him to draw the kiss, it’s justified. Everything is okay but as fans, we are always victims of a creator’s own barriers. Here we can indicate a bit of disappointment to Isayama for his deeds.
Attack on Titancan be streamed on Crunchyroll and read on Viz Media.
