Going in withoutfully understandinghow to play the ghosts inSpirits Unleashedis a good recipe for disaster. A few simple tricks can dramatically increase the odds of victory when you’re the one doing the haunting instead of trying to stop it.

You will need to know how to stay on point with time and resource management, how — and more importantly when — to engage the Ghostbusters depending on how many are grouped and if they are preoccupied, and escaping to a different part of the map for the Ghostbusters to give chase. Escaping is also a good way to lure the Ghostbusters where you want them so they don’t find any of your rifts.
10Choose Your Ghost Wisely
There are many different types of ghosts to choose from, each having their niches. Ectoplasts are the best for dealing with Ghostbusters, applying more slime, longer down periods, and making it easier to escape. Ghoulies are able to use scares more frequently, can possess at a greater distance, and inflict more fear on civilians. Bashers will have a lower stun duration, have a more powerful knock-back, and deal increased damage to objects and traps.
Howlers can scare from a greater distance, their minions have more health with a longer lifespan, and haunted objects make noises that can act as decoys. Poltergeists can do passive damage just by being close, are great at sabotaging Ghostbusters, and they receive higher energy regeneration while in electric objects.

9Keep Rifts Safe
Rifts are, in essence, your pool of lives. Each Rift grants you the ability to respawn and stay in the game to reach your end goal, and you get three of them. If you see one in an obvious place where the Ghostbusters could see it, grab and move it to another part of the map. When they seal a rift or capture you, it’s 1 less life, so avoid trying to save a rift that could let them capture you, which is one of the worst outcomes you could hope for.
For each rift you have left for the final part of the match, you receive a bonus in the form of a time reduction. Be mindful of whatgadgets the Ghostbusters might haveup their sleeves.

8Detonate Rifts Before They Are Lost
Rifts can be detonated to instantly generate a lot of haunt to your total Building Haunt. You need to keep in mind, though, that for every rift you detonate or is destroyed by a Ghostbuster, it’s one less respawn for you and less time reduction for the survival phase at the end of the match.

The best time to detonate a rift is when you see it is at low health, and it is too risky to try save it before the Ghostbusters can seal it.
7Manage Your Energy
You will be using your energy to both scare the Ghostbusters and to dash around the map. If you keep dashing around, you will find yourself unable to scare when you need it. You gain energy passively over time, but you gain even more while you possess an object.
you’re able to still move around while possessing an object, so always be possessing objects when energy is not full, dashing to relocate around the map quickly and scaring when you get the jump on a Ghostbuster.

6Be A Scary Ghost
Don’t just scare someone over and over; that is just a waste of energy and puts you at risk of being discovered and captured by Ghostbusters. The best way to terrify your victims and make them flee is to possess an object and have them notice you by using the “Notice Me” button.
When they notice you, they will have an exclamation mark overhead, and your scare will be significantly more effective. Give chase on your victim, dash through them when you can, and pop off another scare. Always be on the move and spreading fear.

5Max Out Rooms
In order to reach the final phase of the game, you will need to fill the Building Haunt meter at the top of the screen. One of the best ways to do this is by maxing out the haunt of an individual room.

This will give you a very large amount to your Building Haunt. As you move past objects in a room, you’re able to use a portion of your energy to haunt an object, just keep haunting each object as you pass by them one at a time, and the rate at which the room becomes haunted will skyrocket.
4Use Ghost Vision
Ghost Vision is an invaluable tool you should be making use of while playing. You use up energy for every second that you have ghost vision enabled, but with it, you gain a tactical overview of everything in play when making choices. You can see the placements of all your traps and where your rifts are, which you will want to check on at the start of each game to move any you need.
You will also be able to see the positions and movement of both the Ghostbusters and civilians on the map.
3How To Handle Ghostbusters
Dealing with Ghostbusters is not just your basic combat situation; there is a lot of nuance to it. When you see a Ghostbuster as you come around the corner, you may dash through them to impair their vision, swivel and scare them, and dip around corners to break their streams.
They’ll have their own tricks, so you’ll need to capitalize on giving the Ghostbusters tunnel vision — if they try to capture you, you can use it to your advantage to down them for some extra building haunt before you escape to reposition rifts, scare civilians, and max out rooms you haunt.
2Properly Escaping
If ever you find yourself being hit by one or several streams, move out of view. If they cannot get a direct visual line of sight on you, their stream will stop, and you can escape. When you are in an object, the Ghostbusters will need to destroy the object you are possessing in order to capture you.
If the Ghostbusters are blasting at an object you are currently in, jump into any random object you pass close to and keep running so they cannot destroy what you’re possessing and attempt to capture you.
1Surviving At The End
Surviving at the end of the level is the final part of a match. When a building is fully haunted, you enter survive mode. You need to keep surviving until the timer runs out. Remember, the more rifts you have, the shorter the survive phase will be, so keep those rifts well hidden.
If the countdown hits zero while you have one or more streams on you, you won’t win; you’ll need to break free of all streams before you will be able to win.
