In August, the next major video game show kicks off withGamescom. Same as every year, there will be the pre-show day called Gamescom Opening Night Live, where new announcements, reveals, and more will take place.
Hosting the show once again is The Game Awards and Summer Game Fest producer Geoff Keighley.

Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 Will Take Up Hours Of Your Day
Over onX(formerly Twitter), Keighley confirmed that the Gamescom Opening Night Live show for this year, which takes place on August 19, willonce again be two hours long. This was the same length as last year’s show, and I’m unsure whether it’s because I’m old or something, but two hours is a wee bit too long for a show without losing fan interest.
While most gamers are looking forward to the next wave of AAA game releases, having 120 minutes of non-stop AAA game announcements simply isn’t feasible, so expect a lot of indie games to be part of the show (same as with any event).
While Sony might be skipping Gamescom this year, Microsoft’s Xbox division, Nintendo, and a lot of other game companies will be at the show. This means that players can expect game reveals, announcements, trailers, and all sorts of surprises to take place during the four-day event.
I’m Glad We’re Finally Out Of The Action Horror Era
There was a time I was convinced horror games were never going to be scary again.
One of the games we expect ot be at the show is EA’sBattlefield 6. With the game getting a full multiplayer reveal tomorrow, chances are EA will use the event to promote its AAA shooter at the show.
Speaking of which, while there’s no release date for it announced yet, there’s still some recent good news, as EA’s ownAndrew Wilson has suggested that the game won’t cost $80, which was the concern of many gamers.
Gamescom Opening Night Live will take place on August 19 at 2 pm ET/ 11 am PT, with the full Gamescom event officially kicking off on August 20 and lasting until Aug. 24.
