Square Enix will launch theFinal Fantasy Pixel Remasterthis July 2021 on Steam, iOS, and Android - this new release date estimate was shared in an official staff discussion video on YouTube that was unlisted at first but is now private(Thanks,Game’s Talk).

FF Pixel Remasterwill be made of separate releases ofFinal Fantasygames from 1 to 6. The remasters were first announced at E3 2021 during Square Enix' showcase. The same showcase which also announcedStranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin, and which mainly focused on Marvel stuff, clearly showing the company misunderstood its fans' expectations.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remasterrelease date narrowed

The July 2021 release date is shown at the end of a discussion video featuring several key developers of theFinal Fantasyseries at Square Soft. The video was temporarily unlisted, which is how I managed to watch it,but it’s now privateuntil its official reveal.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remastervideo discussion with Yoshinori Kitase, Nobuo Uematsu, Hironobu Sakaguchi

The video is 30 minutes long, with the first part focusing on Yoshinori Kitase and Hironobu Sakaguchi (via a live call from Hawaii) sharing various memories on each game, includingKazuko Shibuya’s pixel art. In the second part of the video, they’re joined by Nobuo Uematsu for a chat onFinal Fantasymusic.

The discussion also featured Chiaki Matsuzawa and Kenichi Maeyamada as the MCs. Chiaki Matsuzawa pretty much MCs all ofAtlus' streams, so you definitely know her if you’re aPersonaorSMTfan who follows the games' Japanese promotion (or read my stream summaries in the past).

Kenichi Maeyamada, also known as Hyadain, is a composer and one of the biggestFFotaku in Japan, he’s like a walking encyclopedia on the series. You’ve definitely heard hisRockmanorFinal Fantasy remixes in the past, likeGolbez Shitennou Toujou. He also works on anime, and was the composer of the opening theme ofNichijouin 2011, and the opening theme ofBaka to Test to Shoukanjuuin 2010 (that’s how I discovered him). Lastly, he was also part of the hugeFinal Fantasyfan poll organized by NHK.

Personally speaking, I’m quite excited forFinal Fantasy Pixel Remaster. But I’m not gonna surprise anyone by saying I’m disappointed it’s not releasing on Nintendo Switch. We’ve only got a very short trailer. So it’s hard to see how the new pixel art compares to the old one. Either way, I’m happy there’s a new easy method to playFF 1through6on mobile. I just hope each game won’t be too pricey. you may tell me your thoughts on the compilation via Twitter@A_iyane07.
