The gaming industry is right now in heavy turmoil. Major companies like Microsoft are enforcing a huge array of layoffs. They even went on to shut down its four highly beneficial gaming studios as well. Amidst these unfavorable circumstances, games are getting hugely expensive as well.

However, despite going through a rough patch, Microsoft isn’t holding down the salary of its CEO. This step by the long-hailed company has made the fans disgusted, keeping in mind the critical cost-cutting norms by the company.
Microsoft CEO Gets a Whopping 63% Salary Raise
This fiscal year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will receive an extravagant $79.1 million (£60.9 million), a 63 percent increase over his 2023 salary. However, Nadella presented a more optimistic picture inMicrosoft’s 2024 Annual Report, which was made public last night:
We are bringing great games to more people on more devices. With our acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, which closed in October 2023, we’ve added hundreds of millions of players to our ecosystem. We now have 20 franchises that have generated over $1bn in lifetime revenue—from Candy Crush, Diablo, and Halo, to Warcraft, Elder Scrolls, and Gears of War.

Nadella also promised that the company will“continue to innovate to offer players more ways to experience the games they love – where, when, and how they want.”He alsomentioned the four popular Xbox titlesthat were released on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 earlier this year.

Microsoft last night announced a massive increase in Nadella’s compensation in cash and stock as well. This comes after the company’s financial revenues had a strong year overall, but its employees had a difficult year. In any case, as it attempts to capitalize on the development of artificial intelligence, Microsoft’s stock is rising and its market value has surpassed $3 trillion.
Fan Couldn’t Accept This Step from Microsoft
Microsoft has experienced two large layoffs in 2024: 1900 employees were let go in January, and another 650 Xbox employees were let go in September.
When Xbox CEO Phil Spencer talked about the lack of overall growth in the console market, Microsoft took the decision in June toclose three Bethesda gaming studios:Arkane Austin, the now-external Tango Gameworks, and Alpha Dog.

Amidst these circumstances, this huge salary raise of Satya Nadella hasn’t been taken up by the fans very lightly.
This fan has made a special chant for this situation.
On the other hand, this fan is not surprised at all by this decision from the tech giant.
This fan thinks the CEO deserved the pay raise because of the historical acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Another fan is disappointed by seeing the situation.
As per this fan, all of these cost-cutting measures were taken to make a hike in Nadella’s salary.
Despite the promising words from the CEO himself, fans aren’t convinced, as those cost-cutting measures were literally devastating. Frankly speaking, this huge salary increment doesn’t look good as well, keeping in mind the miserable states of those closed-down studios and those thousands of laid-off employees.
