The fourth season ofThe Boysis quickly approaching another explosive finale with the titular group and members of The Seven facing major setbacks because of the conflict between them. Amidst the conflict, one of the newer additions to the superhero team, Sister Sage has had a rather underwhelming run, especially given her power set.

The seventh and most recent episode of season 4 saw Sister Sage being expelled from the team by Homelander after she failed to pass on important information to the group’s leader. However, some fans believe that we are not seeing the complete picture and firing Sage might just come back to haunt Homelander in the finale.
The BoysFans Discuss Sister Sage’s Humiliating Exit From The Seven
Jessica “Sage” Bradley / Sister Sage played by actress Susan Heyward was introduced inthe fourth season ofThe Boys. She is known as the smartest person alive and is recruited personally by Homelander (Antony Starr) to serve as his strategist as he gives The Seven a makeover.
In episode 7, Homelander discovers that Sage knew about A-Train being the leak in the team. As a result, Sage is humiliatingly fired by Homelander for her incompetence. After the episode, fans of the acclaimed series took to social media and discussed Sage’s firing.

One user by the name@buggy_conlaid out the circumstances leading to Sage’s firing in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Sage.Labeled as ‘Smartest Person Alive.‘Homelander recruits her to be his strategistDoes not inform him of a leak within the 7Says she knew of the leak and was feeding false infoDoesn’t have Homelander know of this from the startIs shocked she gets firedpic.twitter.com/mybgANCI8x

As the tweet indicates, fans found Sage’s overall involvement with The Seven extremely underwhelming, especially since it ended with the character being expelled from the Vought-powered team of heroes.

Since Sage was built up as the smartest person alive, she should have likely seen her firing coming or should have done a better job of misleading Homelander about the leak in The Seven. Hence, some fans weren’t impressed with the character because she did not live up to the hype of her power set.
Fans Feel Sister Sage Will Come Back to Haunt Homelander inThe BoysSeason 4 Finale
After the events of the seventh episode and the initial post from the user, fans quickly jumped onto social media to discuss Sister Sage’s role in season 4. Fans disagreed with the opinion that Sage’s expulsion from the team was a representation of her incompetence.
Here is what fans had to say about Sage’s potential role in the upcoming season 4 finale on X.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who can see that most everything is going exactly how Sage wants it to go 😭https://t.co/Qr4uAub40H
The show literally gives you an explanation TWO TIMES as to why Sage didn’t tell Homelander and you still don’t get it. They couldn’t spoon feed it to you more than they already have.

Maybe getting fired was part of her plan
You think the smartest person alive isn’t orchestrating all this to her benefit somehow? 😂
Unless her getting fired was a part of her plan…wasn’t she doing something with Neuman? She could still get a place in her cabinet maybeHonestly tho it’s probably more likely we got Sage’s whole arc and this character just doesn’t do anything again
As the tweets suggest, a majority of the fans aren’t willing to accept that Sage’s story is done and dusted just yet, with many expecting her to pull off the final step of her grand plan in the finale.
The Boys Season 4: Eric Kripke’s Decision to Deviate From the Comics With Butcher’s One Plot Twist is a Good Thing for the Show – Here’s Why
Some fans argued that the events leading up to her firing from The Seven were Sage’s own machination, which allowed her to step away from the spotlight. Moreover, Sage also destroyed Homelander’s credibility and used Victoria Newman as the face of her plans.
Thus, Sage will have more control over the situation when she attempts to take out Homelander, potentiallyin the upcoming season 4 finale. Hence, it will be interesting to see whether the fans are proven correct in the finale.
