It is true that fame has a cost, but sometimes it interferes with the lives of innocent family members. In recent news, it has become apparent that Dwayne Johnson’s daughter, Simone Garcia Johnson, aka Ava, has been bombarded with deathly threat messages because of her dad’s divisive WWE return. The wrestler, 51, who is returning to the ring and facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, has not received much love from the fans.
Even more depressing is the fact that The Rock’s family is already experiencing the consequences of this. His daughter is being singled out by hate messages over something she has“nothing to do with”, which is extremely upsetting.
Fans Are Threatening Dwayne Johnson’s Daughter
When it was announced thatCody Rhodes would be stepping back to make room for Dwayne Johnson, the wrestling community felt a range of emotions. Since the announcement, opinions among fans regarding The Rock’s choice to challengeRoman Reigns—his real-life cousin—at WrestleMania 40 in place of Rhodes have been divided. Fans were also let down that Rhodes would not be able to wrap up his story after much waiting.
Ava, an NXT star and Johnson’s daughter, has been the target of multiple death threats because of her dad’s situation, which she has“nothing to do with”.
After her legendary father’s WWE appearance, Ava claims that hateful messages and death threats have been arriving in her inbox constantly—over something she was not involved in. She wrote in a since-deleted X post (viaDaily Mail):
“Can ya’ll just leave me out of this ffs I’m busy running a SHOW, death threats over a situation I have nothing to do with … bffr.”

In case you missed it, Rhodes won the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match, which earned him a world championship match at WrestleMania XL. He is the only wrestler in WWE history to triumph in consecutive Rumble matches.
However,The Mummy Returnsstar appears to replace him so that he could face Reigns at WrestleMania 40, a highly anticipated match that has been brewing for a while. Because of this, even though Rhodes won the ticket through fair and square, fans were upset that The Rock would keep the former from finishing the story.
WWE Fans Are Incensed Over Ava Receiving Death Threats
While some angry fans have let their anger out bybringing up Dwayne Johnson’s family and personal life in the controversy—which, of course, has nothing to do with it—other committed fans are condemning these actions.

Ava debuted on NXT in October 2022, and she faced her first opponent at the Stand & Deliver premium live event in April of last year. As the youngest general manager in WWE history, the 22-year-old was appointed general manager of NXT on January 23 of this year.
WWE and Dwayne Johnson Reportedly Ignored Cody Rhodes’ Warning Before the WrestleMania Move
The official matchup betweenDwayne Johnsonand Roman Reigns has not yet been announced, but according toPWInsider.com, Johnson is “100%”guaranteed to compete in the main event and there is“no scenario”in which he does not face Reigns.
The live kickoff press event for WrestleMania 40 is taking place this Thursday, February 8, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Whether Cody Rhodes gets to finish his story is another tale altogether, and being a fan favorite, it remains to be seen if he’ll get another shot at the prestigious title.
