The inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States is a major shift in American political culture, as the inauguration ceremony took place at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. It was attended by many celebrities, business tycoons, and leading minds in technology, as the day rolled out to be a landmark day in policy-making.

The newly sworn-in president, however, wasted no time to implement his policies. On the parliamentary level, Trump immediately started with immigration reforms and foreign policy, and his approaches were contrary to those of the previous presidency.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection issued a statement that the app has deleted the options that helped undocumented persons to schedule appointments at the southwest border ports of entry. The unexpected shutdown was a blow to about 280,000 people, who were previously competing for 1,450 spots daily.
Many migrants were seen breaking down into tears as soon as they heard their appointments had been called off. Originally introduced during Trump’s first tenure and enhanced further under the Biden presidency, the app had turned into the primary means of handling legal immigration.

The Biden administration has high hopes for CBP One in implementing their strategy to open up legal ways, at the same time discouraging the crossing of the border illegally. However, Trump had promised to scrap it as part of his immigration plan.
Donald Trump withdraws US from the World Health Organization
In another major step, President Trump signed an executive order for the USA to pull out from the World Health Organization. The decision puts at risk one of the organization’s biggest sources of financing, with the United States donating $662 million during the 2024-25 budget cycle.
“World Health ripped us off. Everybody rips off the United States. It’s not going to happen anymore,”the newly elected president stated. Trump was not satisfied with the financial structure of the organization, pointing out that the US pays more while China contributes less.“China pays 39 million, and we pay 500 million, and China’s a bigger country,”he stated (viaABC), calling the situation“a little unfair.”

The United States, which initially became a member of WHO in 1948, had earlier pulled out during Trump’s presidency in 2020 but rejoined in 2021 under Biden. The latest withdrawal makes many people question the future funding of the organization as well as other health-related projects.
Donald Trump orders birthright citizenship changes
The elimination of birthright citizenship is one of Trump’s most talked-about actions on the first day of his administration. The order aims to hold back the right to U.S. citizenship from children born to undocumented immigrants in the U.S. It challenges a 150-year-old right since the passage of the 14th Amendment.
The order titled “Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship” would influence the children born after July 12, 2025. Trump believes his administration has the legal grounds to defend his policy.

The administration aims to exclude two specific categories of children from automatic citizenship- those born from undocumented mothers and non-citizen fathers, and those born of mothers legally in the country on a temporary basis with non-citizen fathers.

Because I got to use it. And remember, TikTok is largely about kids. Young kids. If China is gonna get information about young kids, I don’t know — to be honest with you, I think we have bigger problems than that.
