Graphics or framerate? This has always been a concerning dilemma for a gaming fan. In today’s world of consoles like Xbox and PlayStation, many titles have to settle for one: better visuals or better gameplay. Now, a viable question arises in the minds of the fans: why can’t they have both? And this similar question might be raised in the mind of the ex-Activision Blizzard boss as well.

Recently, Xbox has shared a bizarre gaming ultimatum on its X handle. Seeing this, former Activision Blizzard Head Mike Ybarra might have had his own ultimatum against the company and stated some true facts.
Former Activision Blizzard Head Takes a Dig at Xbox
In that X post, Xbox stated that it’s more important how a game plays than how a game looks. That means, according to this famous console company, gameplay, or rather, framerate, always stands tall above the visuals or graphics.
Don’t make it a choice.

For some fans, fps might be the top priority, or for others, it’s the graphics or the resolution. That’s where Ybarra comes in. He has stated why the console is giving it as choices or options.
Blizzard President Mike Ybarra Believes Studio Will ‘Feel More Independent’ After Microsoft Acquisition
According to him, a game should have both a smooth framerate and great resolution with high graphical details. And it’s absolutely true. It’s dissatisfying to sacrifice one aspect of the game for another.
What Is the Reason for Mike Ybarra’s Dig at Xbox?
It’s not just that Xbox has expressed some random thoughts on X. It’s how it has been working when it comes to AAA titles, where you have the liberty of choosing only one: better graphics or better framerate. That’s why it wanted to prove a point through that X post.
“I don’t think so, looks last gen”: It’s Hellblade 2 vs Stellar Blade as Fans Can’t Decide Which is the ‘Generational leap’
However, inSenua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Microsoft’s console company is contradicting its own opinion as it’s prioritizing visuals over framerate. Thistitle right now just supports a maximum of 30 frames per secondwith dynamic resolution on the Xbox Series X/S. Even so, there will be no option to lower the graphics to improve framerate.
In this regard, the Visual Effects Director ofHellblade 2, Mark Slater-Tunstill, has stated that the 30fps setting is to give the game a more“cinematic“feel, like in the movies.

So, it is quite understandable why Ybarra took a dig at Xbox. Now it’s up to the long-hailed console company if it will take his opinion or not. What are your thoughts on this? Don’t forget to let us know in the comment section.
