Stardew ValleyCreatorEric Baroneannounced his next RPG title Haunted Chocolatier back in October of 2021, and he’s given fans another look at the game’s development progress.

Haunted Chocolatier is a game that combines RPG/simulation mechanics with delightfully ghostly chocolate-making. Players will take on the role of a chocolatier living in a haunted castle, tasked with maintaining a chocolate shop amongst ghostly visitors. Though the game is still a ways away in terms of a release, it has already garnered widespread anticipation.

While we’ve already seen a number of screenshots of the game throughBarone’s development blog, Barone has recently revealed a screenshot of a new area in the game.

A New Look At Eric Barone’s Haunted Chocolatier

Haunted Chocolatier will be Barone’s second major title. Though fans may recognize some things from Stardew Valley, the new game utilizes a completely different set of assets. Barone mentioned that “almost everything in Haunted Chocolatier, including the combat, is completely coded (and drawn) from scratch.”

Following a few months of development, Barone posted a screenshot of Haunted Chocolatier art to his Twitter on August 2nd. Showcasing a dimly lit room bedecked with brick and owl statues, the room looks wonderfully haunting!

The screenshot looks like an image of a large basement or set of entwining rooms. Though Barone only called it a “haunted chocolatier screenshot,” it seems like it could be showing a new area of the chocolatier’s mansion. Despite the fact that the area seems eerie, the warmth of the lanterns still gives it a cozy feel.

Unfortunately for any eager fans, Haunted Chocolatier does not yet have a release date. Barone previously mentioned the game is still in early development, so it may be a while before fans will see it. This makes sense, given that he’s solo-developing the game while simultaneously working on Stardew Valley. So for now, fans will just have to keep their eyes out for any exciting new Haunted Chocolatier images!
