Nezuko Kamado is the younger sister of Tanjiro, the main protagonist ofDemon Slayer, but she plays a supremely important part in the story. As one of the two remaining members still alive ofthe Kamado family, Nezuko is also a demon, after an attack left her in a precarious situation.

As the story progresses, we grow to love Nezuko’s role in the series. Whether she’s reverting to her chibi form and protesting situations with a pouty face, or kicking the heads off of demons while in her buffed form, there’s no shortage of amazing Nezuko moments.

Zenitsu Agatsuma Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer: 10 Best Zenitsu Episodes, Ranked

Zenitsu Agatsuma is a goofy character who constantly finds himself falling in love, but these ten episodes of Demon Slayer are where he stands out.

What makes her exceptional is that she doesn’t follow any particular trope in your usual anime trio. Nezuko is the wild card ofDemon Slayerand can be the most useful asset to the story’s lore. This list will cover the ten episodes that best showcase her tenacity, usefulness, and heart-pounding moments that have left an impression on us all.

Nezuko and Tanjiro in Demon Slayer

10Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 1

What better way to kick off this list then with the first episode, appropriately titled “Cruelty”? In this episode, Tanjiro comes home to find his entire family has been murdered, with only Nezuko showing any sign of life.

The heart-breaking moment when Nezuko regained consciousness, only to reveal she had turned into a demon, left us shocked. Inthe world ofDemon Slayer, anyone turned into a demon must have their head taken off and slain by a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

Nezuko in Demon Slayer

During her attack on Tanjiro, tears fall from her face as it appears she doesn’t want to hurt Tanjiro. Despite her being a demon and needing to consume human flesh to survive, something is off about Nezuko, a revelation that is later explored in the story.

9Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 8

“The Smell of Enchanting Blood”

It’s made clear early on that there’s something different and special about Nezuko’s demon form. Despite becoming a demon, she still exhibits human emotion and a restraint from attacking other humans.

While manydemons exist in theDemon Slayerworld who refrain from consuming humans, it’s unheard of for someone to turn into a demon and resist this early. Perhaps there is something more to Nezuko, as stated by Tamaro and Yushiro, two friendly demons.

Nezuko defeating demon in Demon Slayer

What makes this episode particularly special is the sweetness Nezuko shows towards Tanjiro as Tamaro explains why Nezuko is special. There’s an innocent vibe that shows when Tanjiro places his hand next to Nezuko, which she nuzzles as if it were a plushie.

8Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 2

“Trainer Sakonji Urokodaki”

Onto the harder-hitting moments of Nezuko’s run inDemon Slayer, and there’s no better way than with a good, ol' fashioned butt kicking. Or, should I say, a head kicking? I guess that would be more appropriate for the second episode of season one.

We saw Nezuko refrain from devouring her own brother, but what happens when Nezuko is faced with an opportunity to feast on the flesh of humans she doesn’t know? This is the conundrum she found herself in, and we all expected the worst.

Nezuko in Demon Slayer

Thankfully, she not only opted to remain hungry, she also ran like Naruto and punted the head off a demon that was attacking Tanjiro. Loyal to the bone, Nezuko overcame her demon urges to consume humans and instead saved her brother — something that happens quite often later on.

7Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 10

“Together Forever”

Speaking of kicking, Nezuko was at her best earlier on in the series when she was fearless and used her demon powers to the advantage of everyone by her side. In episode 10, “Together Forever”,Nezuko used her feetto keep a killer ball from doing any damage to Tanjiro.

In the battle against Temari Demon and Arrow Demon, Nezuko and Tanjiro are put into a predicament that far exceeds their abilities. In order to survive this ordeal, they need to work together and in perfect sync to throw off the demon duo.

Temari Demon proves to be the more difficult of the two, but Nezuko stands her ground and continues to kick the ball away from her allies. It’s a bit silly but packs a ton of intensity, andDemon Slayermanages to turn a game of pass back into a life-and-death situation.

6Swordsmith Village Arc, Episode 5

“Bright Red Sword”

Nezuko’s Blood Demon Art is as cool to see as it is perplexing to understand. In order to develop Blood Demon Art, demons must consume humans in order to gain power, yet Nezuko has kept up a strict diet that cuts out humans entirely.

Demon Slayer: 10 Strongest Blood Demon Arts, Ranked

Every monster in Demon Slayer flaunts a unique demon art, but these are surely some of the strongest ones we’ve seen in the series.

Fusing her blood with Tanjiro’s sword,Nezuko then transferred her Blood Demon Artand created a blaze of demon fire. The visual was absolutely stunning, as Tanjiro swung his blade meant to kill demons while harnessing the power of demon blood.

This wasn’t the first time Nezuko had used her Blood Demon Art, but it’s up there as one of the coldest moments in the show’s run. It’s another fine example of how Nezuko is special and different from all the other demons that Tanjiro and his friends have faced.

5Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 23

“Hashira Meeting”

Perhaps one of the biggest defining moments of Nezuko being more human than demon occurred in episode 23 of season one, titled “Hashira Meeting”. The title leaves nothing to the imagination, as Tanjiro and Nezuko are faced with the Demon Slayer Corp and their strict rules.

Per the policy of the Demon Slayers, Nezuko must be beheaded for simply being a demon. However, noticing that Nezuko is different from other demons they’ve encountered, the head of the Hashira decides to test her ability to hold back from feasting on some blood and flesh.

The Wind Hashira, Sanemi Shinazugawa, attempts to goad Nezuko on by slicing his own arm and drawing blood. In an act of pure rebellion, Nezuko turns her head to the temptation, showing the Hashira that there is more than meets the eye beyond her demon eyes and sharp fangs.

4Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 21

“Against Corps Rules”

Imagine an intense battle full of emotions and bloodshed ends, and you’re immediately met with some comedic relief in an unlikely way. Nezuko found herself in this type of situation, as the Demon Slayer Corps learned of her demon status.

Kanao, one of the many Hashiras, took chase and attempted to catch and behead poor little Nezuko, but that was a task easier said than done. Not only was Nezuko slightly faster than the Butterfly Hashira, she was also more agile too.

When the blade came too close to the grain, Nezuko managed to shrink herself to chibi level, avoiding a lethal swing of the sword. As anxious as this episode left many who hoped for Nezuko’s safety, you can’t help but chuckle at the silliness amidst the serious nature of the chase.

3Demon Slayer Season 1, Episode 19

“Hinokami”

Up until episode 19, titled “Hinokami”, Nezuko hadn’t shown off her demon powers outside of growing larger and a few scuffles with her fists and feet. However, when it comes to saving her brother from an untimely death, Nezuko manages to pull a new trick out of her sleeve.

Wrapped up in a web cast by one of the members of the demon spider family, Nezuko was helpless and forced to watch Tanjiro battle the older brother of the family. Holding out her hand, Nezuko unleashed herBlood Demon Artattack, casting a barrage of fire to distract Tanjiro’s opponent.

This was such a euphoric moment forDemon Slayerfans, as it allowed Nezuko to progress her story as a demon while proving she had good intentions in her heart. What made it so much more special was the vision of her mother telling Nezuko to never give up, leaving us all with a few tears to wipe away.

2Entertainment District Arc, Episode 7

“Transformation”

The Entertainment District Arc ofDemon Slayerwas widely appreciated by the fan base, so much so that one of its episodes actually broke the internet. While “Transformation” wasn’t that episode, it does hold one of Nezuko’s best moments of the series.

Withthe threat of Daki’s powerlooming and posing one of the biggest challenges to the demon slayers, Nezuko turned up her demon powers to eleven and struck hard. Taking on an older appearance with a horn emerging from the side of her head, sadistic Nezuko had arrived.

Her relentless attacks on Daki were a thrill to watch but uncomfortable at times. Nezuko wasn’t the little girl fans had grown to love anymore. She became a bloodthirsty demon that wanted nothing more than to inflict as much harm on another demon.

1Swordsmith Village Arc, Episode 11

“A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Light”

Rarely does an anime episode leave me not only speechless, but reaching for the tissue box to wipe away tears.A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Lightis one of them, and it stands at the top of any episode involving Nezuko.

While this episode focuses more onTanjiro’s struggle with Hantengu, Nezuko plays a pivotal role in the second half. As the sun begins to rise, Tanjiro is forced to make the decision to chase after Hantengu after Nezuko kicks him forward and demands he go after the demon.

This decision leaves Nezuko prone to the sun’s harsh effects on her demon body, but miraculously, she survives the ordeal. Becoming the demon to survive the sun, Nezuko’s embrace with Tanjiro is not only the best moment of Nezuko’s time on the show, but it’s the best moment of any character, period.
