Team Jade’s recreation of the iconic Battle of Mogadishu came out back in February, but while it has foundplenty of love among squads of four, most players felt it to be unfairly balanced for those trying to run it solo.
After initial tweaks by the developer did not fix the balance issues, Team Jade threw in the toweland announced thatit would release a more tailored way to experiencethe Black Hawk Down Campaign solo.
According toa social media post, the new Black Hawk Down solo mode will come out on May 22nd during the game’s mid-season update.
Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Solo Mode
In an interview in March, Delta Forcedesign director Ricky Liao said the new solo mode will make the Black Hawk Down campaign feel fairer. However, he stressed there will still beno difficulty options, in keeping with the original design philosophy for the mode.
The upcoming patch is another attempt to try and salvage the campaign’s reputation among PC players. At the time of writing, Black Hawk Down sits at a measly 44% of positive reviews on Steam. By contrast, the base Delta Force scores 64% in the same metric.
While many of the complaints have indeed centered around the poor difficulty scaling for solo players,many Black Hawk Down players have struggled with performance issues.
The base Delta Force game has earned a reputation for its low system requirements, which have even allowed the game to run on mobile phones.
Part of the difference is that Delta Force runs on Unreal Engine 4, but the Black Hawk Down campaign was built on Unreal Engine 5.The game mode is not available on the mobile version of Delta Forceand requires considerably better specs to run adequately on PC.
Black Hawk Down is expected to be a part of the delayedDelta Force console release, but there is no known date for that. The Black Hawk Down solo mode update comes out on May 22nd for PC players.
