Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor - How To Heal

Red Sugar candy!

Although the game features different biomes with special environmental conditions, the core gameplay remains the same. And that’s why the tricks below are always useful, no matter which class you choose or which biome you play in.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

Kill Fat Lootbugs

You Always Need More Nitra & Gold

Upon exploring every given biome and stage, you will come across some fat, slow-moving bugs that do not look like hostile aliens chasing you. These are Lootbugs, and you can mine them similar to rocks. Each lootbug will drop a few Nitra and Gold after its death, which makes them quite valuable.

Since Lootbugs can be killed with only a few swings of the pickaxe, they are much easier sources of Nitra and Gold than mining their own crystals. So, make sure to hunt the Lootbugs whenever you see them on the map, and remember that bullets do not hurt them.

Use Reroll

Get The Offering You Really Need

Every time that you level up, you get three upgrade options and can only choose one. It happens to every player that sometimes you just don’t get any good offers, and that’s when Reroll comes into play. You can always spend some Gold to get a new roll of upgrade offers.

Deep Rock Galactic Survivor Tips And Tricks 1

This is quite important when you want to level up a certain weapon before facing the boss. So, when you don’t get any weapon upgrades, you may Reroll as many times as your wallet allows to finally get the upgrade that you need the most. This is quite important in the final stage, where there is no use for Gold other than that.

Mine Minerals In The Early Waves Of Each Stage

Sweep The Map While Bugs Are Asleep

Once you drop into the mission, you need to gain the most of the environmental minerals before the first swarm arrives. The period before the first swarm is always the least dangerous part of the exploration, where you’re able to easily explore the map for Nitra, Gold,Red Sugar, and other minerals.

Deep Rock Galactic: How To Play The Driller Class

The Driller class can be crucial to survival in Deep Rock Galactic. Learn the best gear and strategies to bring along on your next mission.

In Stages 1 and 2, when the final boss is not as powerful, you can also delay killing the boss on purpose and try to mine more minerals or complete the side objective. This is even more important when your permanent upgrades are big enough. This will help you unlock new weapons or upgrade the existing ones earlier in the mission.

Focus On Unlocking The Overclock For Every Weapon

Boost Your Weapon Buffs

Each weapon in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor features several Overclock upgrades that can be obtained on Levels 6, 12, and 18. However, you will first need to unlock the Overclock feature for each weapon, which requires you to upgrade the weapon up to Level 12 in a single mission.

Once a weapon reaches Level 12, the Overclock upgrades will be available from the next expedition.

Deep Rock Galactic Survivor Tips And Tricks 9

Once a weapon reaches Level 12, the Overclock upgrades will be available from the next expedition. Overclock upgrades offer bigger buffs, especially the Level 18 variant, which usually gives your weapon a unique, powerful buff that could help a lot in defeating bosses. We suggest you prioritize unlocking the Overclock feature for all weapons, and then focus on defeating the bosses.

Spend Your Minerals On Boosting Movement & Mining Speed

Move Fast, Mine Fast, Survive Longer!

No matter what class you play, Movement Speed and Mining Speed are two important stats that could help you a lot in escaping from the hordes and the boss. As a result, these two are your priority options when it comes to permanent upgrades.

Both of these skills require Croppa, which is a giant green rock with purple spikes on it. While mining it is the best way to earn Croppa, but you may also spend your points in the permanent Upgrades menu to buy some Croppa and other types of minerals.

Never Miss The Artifact Drops

Special Buffs For Special Conditions

During each stage, you will receive an artifact drop at some point. In order to get the artifact, you will first need to clear the drop zone from any rocks or crystals. Once done, stand inside the drop radius until the Artifact bar is filled, and then you will receive the drop.

This drop pod is powerful enough to kill the stage boss instantly, except for the final stage’s boss, of course!

There are two important reasons why you need to get these drops at each stage: First, the Artifacts offer some special buffs that could save your life from a horde swarm on many occasions or buff your weapons and mining speed in a meaningful way. Second, if you manage to lure the horde chasing you inside the drop zone, the artifact’s drop pod will land on its head, which kills a lot of them pretty fast. This drop pod is powerful enough to kill the stage boss instantly, except for the final stage’s boss, of course!

Upgrade At Least One Weapon To Level 18 Before Facing The Boss

A Superbuff Is Always Better Than Multiple Normal Buffs

If you want to have a winning edge in the battle against the Dreadnought, you really need to upgrade one of your weapons to Level 18 before facing the boss. This is important as the Level 18 Overclock buff is incomparable to anything else in the game.

If you mine enough Nitra in each stage, and use Reroll wisely, you can even upgrade two weapons to Level 18 before fighting the boss. So, it’s quite possible. Also, keep in mind that one Level 18 weapon is much more effective than having four Level 12 weapons in your slots.

Create A Circular Route Around The Map In The Final Stage

Force The Boss To Follow You On A Pre-Made Track

Dreadnought, the final boss, loves to make long jumps over the miner, and the only way to evade these jumps is to have a clear map without rocks blocking your path. When you are in the final stage, you don’t really need to mine too much stuff.

Deep Rock Galactic: How To Play The Gunner Class

Deep Rock Galactic offers a variety of unique classes for mining and slaying. Learn more about the Gunner Class with this guide.

Instead, you are highly suggested to roam around the edges of the map and clear every rock that blocks a long circular path. When the boss comes out of its egg, you need to reach this circular path and run around the map on this self-made track until you kill the boss. Since you will never technically face blocking rocks, this path will allow you to evade the boss’s jump, while keeping you safe from the horde.

Complete Side Objectives At Each Stage

Gold Is No Longer A Problem!

At each stage, you are given a side object, which is either collecting certain types of plants or mining special minerals. Upon completing this objective, you will be rewarded with 30 Gold as well as a good amount of XP Points.

Completing this side objective is quite easy in the earlier stages, and the reward is well worth the try. This will also help you to focus on mining Nitra more than Gold, as you will eventually get a fair amount of Gold after completing the side objective.

Always Equip An Elemental AOE Damage Weapon

One Shot, Many Kills!

When the final battle against the Dreadnought begins, the horde will become quite annoying, especially when you try to evade the boss’s long jumps. Having a weapon that deals AOE damage with an elemental chemical like Fire, Cryo, or Acid is quite helpful to push back the horde or kill them quite fast.

These weapons, which come in different forms grenades, floating drones, or beams, feature a lasting effect that deals damage to the enemies over time or leaves a side-effect like slowing them down. Weapons like Cryo Grenade, CRSPR Flamethrower, Corrosive Sludge Pump, and Arc-Tek Cryo Guard are some of the best examples of what we mean here.
