Despite a plethora of new additions and revamped mechanics since the original game, the core gameplay ofDeath Stranding 2: On The Beachstill requires effort from the player to manage their cargo, and, most importantly, their carrying capacity.
It is also obviously one of the most integral traits to take into account whenleveling up Sam’s Stats, since this essentially determines how much cargo and weight our legendary porter can carry on his body until it reaches a specified limit.

Death Stranding 2: How to Kill or Avoid BTs
This guide explains how to kill and avoid BTs in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
To help you maximize this stat as much as possible and make heavy-loaded deliveries an easier toll to carry throughout the rest of the game, continue reading my guide here as I explain how you may upgrade and increase your carrying capacity in Death Stranding 2.

Using The Floating Carrier
I’ll be brief here; this isn’t a way to increase your carrying capacity, but I’ll quickly mention it here because it can help counteract the carrying capacity problem, especially when you have totransport cargo that exceeds your carrying capacity limit.
Unlocking and using a Floating Carrier mid-way through the second episode can heavily favor you in those circumstances, since this equipment acts as a hovering trolley to load cargo onto and drag along with Sam’s journey at the cost of a few Chiral Crystals to keep it functional.

Remember that these equipment items also have a weight limit for how much cargo they can carry, but it should be more than enough to pile on almost anything or balance it out with some on the carrier while the rest is on Sam’s body.
Hoarding Chiral Crystals
Speaking of the resources to feed the floating Carrier with, something that I know many players will end up forgetting is how these Chiral Crystals can actually help with the carrying capacity. For every 1,000cg of these resources in your inventory, it will help Sam reduce his carrying load by 1kg.
Based on that, I strongly advise hoarding as many chiral crystals as you can—they have no limit. Go to any NPC Prepper or Distro centre and claim all the chiral crystals they have.Just leave a hundred or something there to spare in case you want to fabricate equipment.

It also goes without saying that you should harvest any chiral crystal formations that you’re able to during your travels andloot them off of defeated BTs.
What this means is that early on or even towards the mid-game episodes, if you happen to have at least 3,000 to 4,000cg chiral crystals, then that will essentially reduce 3/4 kg weight off of Sam. It’s not a major difference, but anything to help you add more cargo or take their overall load off is better than nothing.

Death Stranding 2: How To Unlock The Music Player
Took them long enough to add it.
Using The Battle Skeleton
You’ll be glad to know that Death Stranding 2 features the exoskeletons once again, like the original game.you’re able to unlock the Battle Skeleton via the Western Environmental Observatory, and for its level 2 variant, I suggest gaining a 3-star connection level here,as shown in the image above.
The battle skeleton utilizes a battery to enhance Sam’s defense and increase movement speed, but the most important feature is its ability to carry additional weight. The Level 1 variant of the skeleton allows for 60 kg of extra weight, while the Level 2 can boost that upwards to 80 kg.
Suppose you can spare the time to grow your rep with the Western Environmental Observatory by completing additional orders or finding their lost cargo. Get their connection level to three stars, because I’ve never taken off the battle skeleton ever since I got it in the second episode.
Chiral Antigravity Device
Kojima Productions really doubled down on the features in this game since the previous entry, because your backpack has several new attachments that you’re able to use,and the most essential one that’ll entice any porter out there is thebrand-new Chiral Antigravity devices.
These attachments can reduce the overall weight of the backpack, thereby increasing Sam’s total carrying capacity. You can have more than one of these things on, and the more you equip, the greater the weight-reduction effect that you get from them.
I personally had a couple of them on, but a single one felt more than enough by the mid-game. I found other attachments to be more beneficial for specific situations, such as the backshield plating or the ammo pouch, for missions where we knew there would be hostile enemies to fight.

Carrying Capacity Stat
Lastly, that brings me to the Carrying Capacity stat itself in Sam’s Stats. This one is obvious if you pay attention to it; the heavier the weight you carry in orders, the better you may passively increase and level up this stat, thus increasing the maximum carrying capacity.
The quickest way to increase the proficiency level of this stat from the early going is to try doing all your heavy-duty deliveries across long distances with your weight limit almost on the edge of being exceeded.
It sounds like a chore, especially since you might stumble occasionally and lose your balance while carrying that much load, but it should help you to increase this stat enough so that it reaches a min-max value as early as episode 4, where you meet Rainy for the first time.
