Ryan Reynolds is back once again as Deadpool in a Christmas special video. The purpose of the video is genuinely heartwarming, but Reynolds has managed to bring his signature humor style to the video. The Merc with a Mouth and his sidekick Kidpool are out to help eliminate sickness from the world by donating to The Hospital for Sick Children.

They also seek help from a DC celebrity while poking fun at the studio and their former stars. It is not even the funniest joke as Reynolds brings back one Christmas prop from the past. Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively have pledged to match all the donations made before December 24th up to $500,000 to support the SickKids Foundation.
Ryan Reynolds pokes fun at DC yet again in his latest Christmas special video
Ryan Reynolds‘ Christmas special video posted to his socials has gone viral as usual. Reynolds is back in his Deadpool costume with Kidpool to assist him and they engage in a funny banter, while also explaining the charitable purpose behind the video. They are seeking support from fans to raise funds to help the sick kids.

However, Deadpool and Kidpool realize that they are too R-rated for the viewers and bring in someone who the kids would love. Reynolds managed to get Lynda Carter for the video, who makes a grand entrance. Deadpool and Kidpool then ask her to do her iconic spin. However, when she does the spin she doesn’t transform into the Wonder Woman costume but into an ugly Christmas sweater, that has another story behind it.
Carter looks confused by her new costume, while Deadpool humorously blames it on the“DC lawyers”. Deadpool quips,“Them DC lawyers, I knew it… probably the same guy that got Cavill.”He was hinting at the 2022 fiasco whenHenry Cavillannounced his Superman return without signing a contract and later got fired from the role.

He also mentions the“other Batman”referring to Ben Affleck’s role in the earlier DCEU. Interestingly, Reynolds poked fun at DC’s treatment of Cavill inDeadpool & Wolverine, when he brought in the actor for a cameo role as Wolverine. In the film, Deadpool says the line,“We will treat you so much better than the sh*t-f**ks down the street.”

The video sought donations for the SickKids Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the health of sick children through research and clinical care.
The ‘DC lawyers’ joke wasn’t the funniest joke in the video
While fans enjoyedDeadpool running his mouth at DC, there was another joke hidden in the video that many fans would love even more. If Lynda Carter’s ugly sweater in the video seems too familiar, it is because Reynolds was pranked byHugh JackmanandJake Gyllenhaalwith the same piece of cloth.

In an Instagram post shared in 2018, Reynolds can be seen wearing the sweater, adorned with a big golden bow. He seems not too happy but Jackman and Gyllenhaal on either side of him were enjoying the little prank they pulled on Reynolds. TheGreen Lanternstar’s caption says it all,“These fking aholes said it was a sweater party.”

Jackman and Gyllenhaal, co-stars in the filmPrisoners, proved that they could outdo Reynolds in his own game. Years later, Reynolds gave a shoutout to this prank by bringing back the sweater in the Christmas video.
