Fan-created mods are an important part of the gaming industry, they can keep games alive for years with new content in a way that’s just not always manageable for development teams working on new projects.

These guys have spent nearly 4 years working on a completely overhauled Mod for Dark Souls 3 with new bosses, enemies, level progression and an entire storyline of it’s own

Mods make the industry better, and fans are the better for it
Modding has always been a way for fans to make their stamp on a game’s existence, to take what the developers did and make it their own, making it more everlasting and bringing a sense of fellowship to the enjoyment of a game. It’s especially great in single-player games that grow beyond what the studio planned through the efforts of fans.Skyrim is perhaps the most well-known example of a game being kept aliveand strong through dedication from mod creators, mod support coming to console in 2016 breathed fresh life into theBethesdaRPG.
Overhauls likeSkywindandSkyblivion, mods that turn that game into previous franchise installmentsMorrowindandOblivionare impressive and keep interest in a game that is over ten years old at this point, but still as popular as ever thanks to a strong modding community.Dark Souls: Archthronesis set to be a big deal forDark Soulsmodding so hopefully it sticks the landing and can show off just how great modding can be.
