Ingame Studio and505 Gamesshared the first extended gameplay footage from Crime Boss: Rockay City, and for anyone who has already played the Payday series, this is going to be an anticipated game for 2023.

Announced as a heist-oriented first-person shooterat The Game Awards 2022, the latest gameplay footage of Crime Boss: Rockay City showcases one of the game’s heist missions where the player teams up with three other friends to infiltrate a luxury building and steals some valuable artifacts.

The gameplay mechanics look very much like that ofPayday 2. Players need to infiltrate the building and then follow the objectives to reach the safe. Each objective requires players to grab a certain item, and it all should be done quietly to prevent triggering the security alarms.

When the main phase begins, which is opening the safe’s gate, players need to hold their position and stand against waves of enemies and security guards until an automated drill is opening the safe, a scenario that seems quite similar for Payday 2 fans.

It’s yet to be seen how Crime Boss: Rockay City is going to combine these heist missions with its star-studded campaign, but with all the famous Hollywood names starring in the game, fans do expect a compelling story. Unlike Payday, Crime Boss is set in the 90s in a fictional city of Florida, which means you are more likely to see classic heist devices and weapons rather than those cutting-edge electronic gadgets of Payday.

Regarding the fact that Starbreeze is planning to launchPayday 3in 2023, it seems like the game already has a big competitor in the exact same genre. Payday 3 has not received an official announcement trailer yet, but we should hear more about it next year.

Crime Boss: Rockay City targets a launch on August 01, 2025, on current-gen consoles and PC. The PC version will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store at launch. This is the debut title from Ingame Studio, a Czech Republic-based team that previously has only helped other studios to develop their projects.
