Creature Commandoshas become quite the anticipated project in DC’s upcoming line-up. With the release of the series having just begun, the series has a lot of expectations. Although the animated universe of the franchise has been nothing short of perfect, the series stands out because of James Gunn of it all.

The co-CEO of DC Studios is heading the project, and it is safe to say that fans have been looking forward to it since its announcement. However, the series is famously diverting from the source material in some ways.
While fans are extremely critical of book adaptations taking such an approach, a similar regard is not extended to comic book-inspired projects, and the change that Gunn’s series has taken is quite interesting.

Creature Commandosand Argus
TheCreature Commandosteam has evolved quite a lot over the years. Several characters have come and gone from the team, and many characters can be named as a part of it. However,James Gunn’sseries has made some additions to the series that aren’t in line with their stories from the comics.
The most well-known example would be that of his brother, Sean Gunn, who plays the role of the Weasel in the franchise. Although there is one more addition that has made its way into the series but should not have, according to the source material. In the comics, the Commandos are put together by Project M.

However, in the animated series, Argus is the one that seems to be putting them together. Calling the team Task Force M, similar to Suicide Squad’s Task Force X, Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller is a key player in the series.
An Unnecessary Addition or the Perfect Decision
While some might argue thatViola Davisshould not have been a part of the series, there are several reasons why her addition makes perfect sense. Originally, theCreatures Commandoswere put together around the Second World War, which prompted the creation of Project M.
Stranger Things Star David Harbour Joins James Gunn’s DCU for Creatures Commandos After Frank Grillo Jumps Ship from MCU
However, since the series is erasing the time gap and setting their story in the present day, the introduction of Project M would only add confusion to their story. Argus has already been established within the DCU, with Zack Snyder’s era doing it perfectly. Davis’ character has also made the perfect transition into the new phase in Gunn’sSuicide Squadfilm.
Additionally, there are few characters as significant in the DC comics as Amanda Waller, and no one can play her better than Davis herself. Keeping all of this in mind, it makes perfect sense that Gunn would take such a direction with his story.

New episodes ofCreatures Commandosare released on Thursday.
