So far, six Champion cards have been released, with more sure to be on the way. Each of the Champion cards has a unique ability that can be activated with a small cooldown by using Elixir. These abilities give them different power-ups and make them some of the best cards in the game.

5Skeleton King

Released alongside Archer Queen and Mega Knight, the Skeleton King is the least impressive of the Champion Roster. However, he’s not someone to be trifled with. Costing a whopping four Elixir, the Skeleton King has a decent chunk of health, but his DPS leaves a little something to be desired, making him a tank for the most part.

However, the ability of the card makes him worth a try. The Skeleton King has the ability to summon an army of clone skeletons for just one Elixir. These Skeletons can be taken out in just one hit, as they are clones, but they deal the same damage as a regular Skeleton. With their King tanking the Princess Tower or any enemy units, these Skeletons get to work fast.

4Golden Knight

Basically, abetter version of the Bandit, the Golden Knight, is an incrediblysatisfying card to playaround with. He doesn’t deal a lot of damage per hit, but he hits a lot in a second, giving him a respectable DPS. However, the knight in shining armor (literally) truly shines through when his ability comes into play.

Costing just a single Elixir, Golden Knight’s ability gives him a massive speed boost and propels him to the nearest target. As soon as something enters his range (5.5 Units), he locks onto it and dashes into it like a Bandit. However, he doesn’t stop there and dashes to the next nearest target, continuing until he hits 10 targets or hits all available targets at least once. The ability is exactly as satisfying as you think it is.

3Archer Queen

An archer with a crossbow, the Archer Queen is the best of the original three Champions. She costs four Elixir to deploy, and her ability costs one Elixir. Even without her ability, the Archer Queen’s high fire rate makes her almost viable. Add on the ability, andyou’ve got a killing machine.

When activated, the Archer Queen’s ability gives her invisibility, making nearby enemies completely ignore her. Furthermore, any units that were targeting her beforehand will stop, and she will gain a massive boost in attack speed. These abilities combined make Archer Queen a good choice for defense. However, you must pair her up with another troop to ensure the enemy doesn’t connect with your Princess Tower.

Clash Royale, Golden Knight

The newest addition to the Champion Squad, the Monk, is an incredibly tanky unit that costs 5 Elixir. He is an incredibly powerful defensive unit and has favorable pair-ups with a ridiculous amount of cards. His base attack deals decent damage, but each third attack also deals Knockback on top of increased damage, making him a threat to single-target units everywhere. The Monk can hold back big tanks like the Giant single-handedly, not letting him reach the Princess Tower. He can also be used to counter the Golem but will require some extra assistance.

The ability of the Monk (1 Elixir) lets him enter a state of reflection for four seconds, during which time he reflects all projectiles to the caster. Any spells like Rocket or Fireball are reflected to the nearest Tower. All types of Minions attack with projectiles, making them highly vulnerable to the Monk. On the flip side, enemies that use lightning or beam attacks, like the Inferno Dragon or Inferno Tower, are hard counters for the Monk. However, when used properly, the Monk’s ability can completely decimate unsuspecting foes.

1Mighty Miner

An Inferno Dragon without wings, the Mighty Miner is the spiritual brother to the laser-spitting, damage-ramping menace. He has a drill that he uses, which has a similar effect of damage that increases over time to the Inferno Dragon’s beam. The two units have almost the same DPS.

Unlike the Inferno Dragon, the Mighty Miner is a ground troop and cannot target flying units. Furthermore, he has an ability (one Elixir) that lets him escape to the opposite lane (it lands him in a mirror position) and drops a bomb at his previous location. This lets him change targets quickly and escape from oncoming troops that might have stopped him from connecting to the Princess Tower.
