Considering how things ended betweenTwo and a Half Menand Charlie Sheen following the latter’s problematic remarks and substance abuse controversy, many presumed this was the end of Sheen’sdominanceon TV. However, in a shocking turn of events, FX signed thePlatoonstar for a new sitcom, and many were reasonably startled.

While his exclusion fromTwo and a Half Menmeant that he would no longer enjoy the status of being one of the highest-paid actors on the small screen, the actor did attempt to tackle it with his plans forAnger Management.
Charlie Sheen eyed to make a bank after FX deal
Given his dominance as one of the biggest names on the small screen, FX banked onCharlie Sheen‘s dwindling star power, even though his reputation was heavily impacted after theTwo and a Half Mendrama. But this didn’t stop the network from aiming high, as the top brass saw the sitcom’s potential worth“as much as $800 million”(viaTHR), which pushed them to greenlit 90 episodes at a go after the decent reception of the first 10 episodes.

Sheen was set to earn a fraction of each episode’s revenue. With the show turning in $350M to $500M in revenue, which was the original aim, the lead star’s amount could’ve boosted to any figure between $75M to $200M. But as the story goes, FX’s hope to bank on Sheen’s past feats didn’t pay off well, and both the network and Sheen later found themselves in a reported dispute.
Anger Managementcouldn’t live up to FX’s expectations
Despite the network’s big projections, the final product didn’t quite reach its hype, as the production was riddled with off-screen dramas, which were reportedly centered around Sheen’s controversial antics against his costars. One incident saw Sheenallegedlypushing the producers to fireSelma Blairafter their off-screen feud. The show itself was deemed average by most, even though the creators promised to change the format completely, with showrunner Bruce Helford adding:
Financially and creatively, it will completely change how everybody does their projects,

In addition to the show’s lackluster reception, Sheen reportedly was not satisfied with FX, alleging that the network still owed him around $40M. But the execs at the top reportedly claimed that the sitcom never turned profitable, adding that it grew over budget.
