After several taunts and trading arguments, WB finally fired the actor and was even banned from entering the studio’s production lot.

Before he was fired, however, Sheen was the highest-paid actor on TV and seemed to have a good relationship with the rest of the cast and crew. His co-star Jon Cryer, who played his brother Alan Harper in the sitcom, won his first Emmy for his role in 2009. The ceremony saw Sheen being extremely happy for his co-star’s victory.

The actor publicly shamed the creator in a rant that was broadcast on the radio and reportedly made several antisemitic remarks on Lorre (viaThe Guardian). These came amidst several delays in the production of the subsequent season, which was initially the result of Sheen’s entry into a rehab program and some contract disputes.
While thecontroversy permanently marred the showand resulted in Sheen being terminated from the sitcom, an old clip of the cast being happy at the Emmys resurfaced. Jon Cryer, who played Alan Harper in the series won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor, beating actors like Rainn Wilson, Jack McBrayer, Kevin Dillon, and Neil Patrick Harris.

Once the winner was announced, Sheen looked genuinely happy for his co-star and even hugged Jon Cryer before the actor went on stage to receive the award (viaYouTube). Fans were quick to notice the camaraderie between the two.
Charlie is genuinely happy for Jon! That’s what you call a good friend. Jon Cryer deserved to win!! Without the character Alan, the show would not be funny.
