Nintendo Switch 2is coming out on June 5 and one of the launch titles that accompanies it is CD Projekt’sCyberpunk 2077. As you all know, Cyberpunk 2077 has always been a very demanding game, which led to its infamously disastrous launch onXbox OneandPS4.
So, it’s not a surprise that many people might wonder how Nintendo Switch 2, which is believed by experts to be on par with PS4 in terms of raw processing power, is going to run Cyberpunk 2077.
In a recent interview withGame File,CD Projekt RED’s engineer, Tim Green, talked abouthow porting the game to Nintendo Switch 2 is a challengeand the development team is aware of it.
He confirmed that a dedicated team inside CD Projekt RED is currently working on the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077, andthey are also receiving help fromNintendostaff on this projectto overcome any challenges or issues:
“Development still had challenges, of course, as any development process does, but we’ve been careful in picking tradeoffs to not compromise the game’s vision. We haven’t had to fight with fitting into memory. And the speed of the data storage has helped alleviate some of those early streaming problems. This has allowed us to focus our attention on improving other things, and we’re very happy with the result.”
The Physical Cart Will Include The Whole Game
Furthermore, Tim Green added that this version ofCyberpunk 2077 will benefit from Switch 2’s mouse-style controls, as they are targeting an experience that“feels like using a PC”. In terms of graphical quality, Tim Green said:
“We are currently targeting 1080p resolution in TV quality mode, TV performance mode, and handheld quality mode—and targeting 720p performance in handheld performance mode.”
“[the game] still utilizes Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) when players take it on the go. There are also specific optimizations for this mode like variable refresh rate (VRR) technology that allows for an experience that not just looks great but runs smoothly too.”
Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2 will be the ultimate package,containing all the extra content and the Phantom Liberty expansion. Itsfile size will be around 64GB.
Moreover,the whole game will be on the physical cart. The only extra content players may want to download are the language packs, since the game ships with only the English pack included.
