While MercurySteam released games after Castlevania: Lords of Shadows, it didn’t quite catch on in terms of critical and commercial appeal.

PC-1

Lords of Shadow was released in 2010 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC and was a reimagined take on the Castlevania franchise. It was a great action game with an amazing story. Our reviewthen highlighted the game’s bosses and cinematics as part of the appeal.

Unfortunately, its sequel, Lords of Shadow 2, was not only marred by technical issues, but even the gameplay didn’t live up to its potential, which our review noted as well, giving it a 5.5/10 score. Rounding out the trilogy was Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate, which didn’t even get a home console release, and was relegated to the Nintendo DS.

Will MercurySteam be able to bring back its past glory with Blade of Fire? It seems to be on the right track. Luckily, we won’t have to wait long, as the game will be available on May 22 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Epic Games Store) for $59.99.
