Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3may be a challenging and fun experience gameplay-wise, but there’s a particularly unsettling spot in the game at the moment that fans wish to change. Over the years,Call of Dutygames have had some great cosmetics and skin options for players’ favorite operators, but the latest installment seems to be missing the mark.

The Battle Pass cosmetics are the only good ones, it seems.

Even though the current Battle Pass is full of interesting skins, the game in its default state isn’t receiving any fresh or attractive ones. Fans have been vocal about this problem, and a recent post on Reddit reveals it all.

Fans Take to Reddit With Complaints About New Skins

In aReddit postrecently, PlayStation user Huunnids posted a photo of their currently equipped skin inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.As obvious as it may seem, the comments section supports the argument that, as of late, skins inModern Warfare 3have been lacking a decent standard.

This comes as a surprise, since the Battle Pass itself has some decent outfits as well as a crossover withThe Walking Dead, bringing in characters like Rick Grimes to the battlefield. Still, in its default state, the game seems to be doing a mediocre job at character design.

Moreover, users like Embarrassed-Ideal-18 point out how the better skins are all limited to battle passes:

There have been some really cool skins and tracers… in the battlepasses. I know it’s unintentional but they’re currently being reasonably customer friendly.

This trend may go on for further seasons, and there’s a chance that players who haven’t purchased the Battle Pass may get a glimpse of better skins too. But at the time of writing, it’s tough to witness players receive mediocre cosmetics unless they purchase the entire pass.

Collabs aren’t going away, and there’s hope for better skins in the game.

Call of Duty Has a Record of Mixing up Styles, but Modern Warfare 3 Seems to Be Falling Short

Thecontroversies and criticisms aroundModern Warfare 3never seem to stop, and it seems that cosmetics have entered this conversation too. Traditionally, the franchise has tried to keep up with trends and strayed away from the military-simulator aesthetic every now and then.

Sometimes, it ends up well. Other times, it completely takes away the context of things. It looks like the latest game in the series is falling victim to the latter. The only solution to this is reintroducing skins based on community feedback and taking another look at how character skins can be improved.

Unfortunately, it’s likely that the devs are aware of this situation but limit it to battle passes and nothing more. It’s a matter of false commitment. Want good skins? Purchase the entire pass. It makes little sense, but here we are.
