Heard reprises her role as Mera, Aquaman’s love interest, but honestly, don’t hold your breath for a lot of screen time from her inAquaman and the Lost Kingdom. It’s kind of like she’s there, but not really there.
Back in 2018’sAquaman, she was a big deal, but now, in the sequel, Mera’s been downgraded to a side character who doesn’t say much. Even though she’s now hitched to Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and has a little one, her role is more like a cameo.

Rumors floated around that her part might get cut down, especially during that big Johnny Depp and the 37-year-old legal drama.
In October,Varietyspilled the beans that they axed at least two scenes with Heard, one involving a brawl with the baddie, Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), and a cozy moment with Aquaman. So, she’s not totally out of the picture, just a bit scaled back.

Heard pops up here and there in action scenes, but her total screen time is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it 15 to 20 minutes. Adding a twist to the tale, the early reviews ofAquaman and the Lost Kingdomsuggest it’s taking a hit with a not-so-great Rotten Tomatoes score.
It looks like there’s more drama off-screen than in the deep blue sea this time around.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomis taking a hit in the reviews, dealing a disappointing blow to its Rotten Tomatoes score.
The sequel, bringing back the 44-year-old as the main guy, might shape how folks remember the whole DC Extended Universe.
James Wan’s film throws Arthur Curry back into the ring against the baddie Black Manta, and this time, he’s teaming up with his brother Orm to save their kingdom and the world. But here’s the kicker: the critics ain’t feeling it.
Rotten Tomatoesslaps a 36% score on it from 109 reviews at the last count. While some shout-outs go to the cast and the movie’s flashy visuals, the consensus is thatAquaman 2is a bit of a letdown, signaling a not-so-epic conclusion to the franchise.
Oh, and did we mention thatAquaman and the Lost Kingdomofficially closes the book on the DC Extended Universe?
Yep, it’s a wrap, marking the end of an era where Zack Snyder’s vision got the boot and the ship sailed without a central captain steering it.
