Who could forget those little cute robots that won the hearts of every newPS5owner inAstro’s Playroom? Now, those adorable mascots have gone from living inside our controllers to getting a full-on makeover as they prepare to knuckle down to some serious adventure times with the developers at Team Asobi.

It’s not hard to imagine why the new and improved loveable heroes took the lead on everyone’s wish list after its reveal during Sony’s State of Play event, only eventually dropping to a healthy third place as The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom jumped ahead. The follow-up to the beloved Astro’s Playroom, Astro Bot, will be hitting the shelves in just under two months, but before its PS5 release, the director of Team Asobi wants fans to know where the studio’s priorities lie when it comes to the game’s frame rate.

Astro Bot’s Trailer Is Drastically Outperforming PlayStation’s New Shooter ‘Concord’

PlayStation fans are making it known which newly announced title they’re more excited about.

Speaking withCGMagazineabout Astro Bots, Team Asobi’s director, Nicolas Doucet, opened up about what was the most important mechanic for their upcoming game. While graphics and resolution are naturally a key feature to include with any video game, for Doucet and the team, making sure frame losses were kept to a minimum. In response to the question about whether the studio ever had to pull back on the visuals because they were hampering the overall fluidity of the experience, Doucet answered with what was an “absolute must” for Astro Bot’s development.

Astro Bot

“I think every game experiences that, and at some point, you will lose frames, regardless of what you do. For us, maintaining 60 frames per second [inAstro Bot] is an absolute must. The game should never drop below 60. This is more important than resolution, graphics, or anything else.” replied Doucet. The game director also went on to say that they wanted to “focus on the feel-good aspect when you jump and run” and “the physics, especially with interactive elements, require a lot of power, but it’s crucial for gameplay.”

“We don’t necessarily consider our game the most beautiful, but we strive for a different kind of beauty—simple elegance.”

In a bid to make sure Astro Bot doesn’t become a repetitive endeavor for players, Team Asobi wanted to make sure it didn’t overstay its welcome by adding on unneeded fluff by keeping it within a gameplay time of 12 to 15 hours. With over 80 levels to enjoy and get to grips with. Astro Bot looks set to keep players more than satisfied when it releases worldwide on PS5 on September 26.
