Of all the fun levels PlayStation released in the game, Apes on the Loose is one of the most original inAstro Bot. This particular level is the last one available after defeating Gorilla Nebula’s final boss. What makes this level unique is its clear homage to PlayStation’s Ape Escape.
In this level, there are 13 collectibles to find, including 10 ape-shaped bots to capture and three puzzle pieces to collect. This guide will help you find all the collectibles in Gorilla Nebula. This level is one of the most fun and straightforward to play in the entire game.
Astro Bot: Apes on the Loose Collectible Locations
Bot #1 (Ape Escape Bot)
This first bot in Apes on Loose is a reference to the popular PlayStation gameApe Escape, which is simple to obtain but quite enjoyable. You’ll locate it by following the level’s path until the NPC grants you the power that includes a net to capture all the apes that are loose in the entire level ofAstro Bot.
With that net, a minigame will appear a bit further ahead, where you can naturally catch theApe Escapebot.
Bot #2 (Ape Escape Bot)
As the level progresses, you will come across anotherApe Escapebot, which you must pursue and capture using the net you acquired at the start of the level.
Astro Bot: Rocket Pull Power! Collectible Locations
This won’t be too hard, but keep in mind that this little monkey is quite fast, and you must not let it escape. Once captured, there will only be eight more of the ten total bots left in the level. This is a direct reference to the original game.
Bot #3 (Ape Escape Bot)
In the same area, just a bit to the right, you’ll find the thirdApe Escapebot. To capture it, you’ll need to climb the platform on the right side of thisAstro Botlevel.
Once you successfully climb the platform on the right side, the monkey will immediately flee and begin running to avoid capture, necessitating the use of your powerful net to chase it down. This mechanic will be the main point of interest in Apes on the Loose, a fantastic and unique game.
Bot #4 (Ape Escape Bot)
The fourthApe Escapebot is located on the same platform, but to the left. A flying UFO circles the screen, capturing this restless monkey. In order to free the monkey from the UFO, you must strike it precisely at the right moment.

The monkey will then begin to flee, requiring you to pursue it in order to capture it using the net as a tool. This is the fourth of the ten bots available in Apes on the Loose.
Bot #5 (Ape Escape Bot)
To find the fifthApe Escapebot, you must move to the left of the former flying UFO area, where you will encounter a fountain that spouts water everywhere.
In this fountain, you’ll spot the fifth bot, resting peacefully. Once again, you’ll need to chase it with your net until you successfully capture it. Once you’ve captured the ape, you can use this fountain as an element to unlock another secret.
Puzzle Piece #1
To obtain the first of the three puzzle pieces available in Apes on the Loose, you’ll need to approach the same fountain where they found one of the bots and jump onto the water jet.
Once you reach the top of the water jet, the first puzzle piece will appear. To your right, you’ll need to continue searching for the remaining loose apes scattered throughout the area. Within this place, there are five left to find.
Bot #6 (Ape Escape Bot)
Continuing to the left from the fountain, you will find a giant cement puddle with a crate of bananas in the middle that will be consealing another ape to rescue.
Once you defeat the enemy roaming in that area and strike the crate, it will immediately release one of theApe Escapebots, which will begin to run to avoid capture. This will be the sixth of the ten available in Apes on the Loose.
Puzzle Piece #2
Heading to the left of the giant cement puddle, you will see a trampoline to jump on, leading to a platform. From that platform, you will be able to spot the second puzzle piece floating nearby, which you can glide toward using the level’s ability accessed from a wire behind you.
Alternatively, you can jump a bit higher, collect everything above the platform, and then drop to grab the piece.
Bot #7 (Ape Escape Bot)
On that platform, above the second puzzle piece, you’ll also find the seventhApe Escapebot. This little monkey will start running as soon as it sees you approaching.
Naturally, it will jump off the platform to escape into the grass, but you can give chase with your net. In this level, there are only three bots left to capture. This level is probably one of the shortest in the entire game, or at least in Gorilla Nebula.
Puzzle Piece #3
Toward the end of this platform, you will come across a ladder you’re able to climb. In this level, you will not only spot the eighth Ape bot, ready for capture, but also uncover the final puzzle piece.
Since the bot will start running automatically, it will be quite tricky to grab the piece without falling off the glass platform, which will break as you go. Players will need to be cautious when collecting this piece.
Bot #8 (Ape Escape Bot)
After grabbing the third puzzle piece, you will reach a solid area where they can continue chasing the eighthApe Escapebot, who will be trying to escape. Just before the level ends, you will literally corner this little robot monkey, preventing it from fleeing and enabling the player to rescue it.
Before you end the level, you need to go back and capture the two remaining Ape bots. One is particularly more difficult than the other.
Bot #9 (Ape Escape Bot)
If you backtrack to the left of the ladder you climbed shortly before finishing the level, you’ll find nine bushes to search through.
One of these bushes contains the ninthApe Escapebot, who will continue darting between the bushes until you capture it permanently with their net to rescue it. Once you complete Gorilla Nebula and reach the end of the level, you will rescue this final bot.
Bot #10 (Specter Bot)
To wrap up the tenApe Escapebot captures, it’s time to go after Specter, another character from the franchise. Specter is located in the center of the level.
You can ascend a rail to reach his platform, which will also reward you with a generous amount of coins. At the top, you will find the Specter bot, which is trying to escape being captured, just floating on a sort of throne. If you are quick enough, you can rescue this final bot.
