If you’re keen to meet some cats as quickly as you possibly can inAssassin’s Creed Shadows, you’re able to head to the Cat Island as soon as you’re through the intro section of the game and can leave your first map region as Naoe.
You’ll need tohead to the Omi region in the northeast section of the map. While you’ll still technically be highly underleveled compared to any enemies in this area this early in the game, you’re still okay to explore around as long as you don’t pick up any fights along the way.
Right in the middle of Lake Biwa is a large island, just northwest of the city of Azuchi. This is your destination, so either start swimming, or look for a boat along the shoreline you’re able to borrow to make the journey a little quicker.
Eventually, you’ll reach Okishima, also known as Cat Island. There’s a viewpoint you may climb in the northern corner of the island to make any return trips easier.
While the island isn’t completelyloadedwith hundreds of cats as you might have hoped, there are still a good couple dozen little buddies you can interact with and pet for as long as you please.
Option 2: The Wheel Turns Side Quest
If you prefer to wait and find this location more organically through your playthrough, you’ll alsoeventually reach Cat Island if you complete The Wheel Turns, a side quest in The People Of Omi objective group under Lady Oichi’s icon.
This quest unlocks once you’re far enough along in your efforts to take down all the Shinbakufu targets, so you’ll need to be a bit patient for this one to pop up.

To unlock The Wheel Turns,Yasuke must select any romance dialogue options with Lady Oichi. You’ll know you’re choosing the right lines because there will be a heart next to any romance options available.
In his efforts to woo Lady Oichi, Yasuke will suggest a date to Cat Island after he initially locates Lady Oichi in southern Azuchi at the very beginning of the quest.
This quest also features some bonus cat (and dog!) encounters, so even if you’ve already visited the island before The Wheel Turns becomes available, it’s still worth completing once the quest spawns.
