A recent report over oneXputeris claiming that the previously revealedArmored Core VI: Fires of Rubiconis internally slated for a “September-October” 2023 release window. So far, all that we’ve seen regarding this game was its reveal trailer back at theGame Awards2022, which had the much vaguer “2023” window plastered on the final splash screen.

It’s a notable piece of info, if true, but take it with a grain of salt, as the eXputer report is unspecific about its sources, and no other publication has yet to corroborate the information. One factor that does give the potential leak some credibility is that the author did previously leak the Baten Kaitos remaster, writing apieceabout it on January 2023, a month before its official reveal duringNintendo’s February Direct.

The reason this is particularly relevant is that, like Baten Kaitos, Armored Core 6 is being published byBandai Namco.Elden Ringis another Bandai Namco title, about which the report also made an interesting claim. It alleges that the recently confirmed DLC,Shadow of the Erdtree, is set to releaseafterArmored Core 6, meaning after September or October of this year. If the report is to be believed, it’s undoubtedly disappointing news for Elden Ring fans that have long been waiting for a new substantial chunk of content.

Armored Core 6 and Elden Ring were both developed byFromSoftware, one of the current gaming industry’s most influential studios, due to its propagation of the so-called ‘souls-like’ subgenre of action games. Elden Ring, the studio’s most recent title, falls into this souls-like category, and it has found tremendous success, with FromSoftwareconfirmingabout a week ago that the game had reached over 20 million unique players.

Armored Core 6, however, isn’t a souls-like. The game will be a stark departure from the style of titles FromSoftware is known for currently, but it’s actually a throwback to the studio’s past. Prior to the team’s first souls-like,Demon’s Soulsin 2009, it had developed four Armored Core games, the fifth one launching in 2012. The games focus on building and customizing your mech and using it in more large-scale shooting-based battles.
