Universal is now in production of a newJurassic Worldfilm which will be a fresh new chapter in the franchise with a whole new cast led by Scarlett Johannsson, and Jonathan Bailey. Recently, a photo of Bailey bulking up for the role went viral on social media. While Bailey’s commitment is admirable, fans couldn’t help but make fun of how his workout would help him while facing off against dinosaurs.

OnceGareth Edwardsbecame aware of it, he instantly took over the slot and became the official director of the new film. In an interview withCollider, Edwards stated that he was planning on taking a break and had started writing an idea for his next film.

When the opportunity to direct the nextJurassic Worldcame, he couldn’t help but take it on. The director claimed that he is a huge fan of 1993’sJurassic Park, calling it a cinematic masterpiece. He also called the gig a dream job as he gets to work with the producer and writer of the 1993 blockbuster. Edwards said,
I was about to take a break and I started writing my next idea for a film and this is the only movie that would make me drop everything like a stone and dive right in. I love Jurassic Park.
I think the first movie is a cinematic masterpiece…so this opportunity is like a dream to me. And to work with Frank Marshall and Universal and David Koepp, who’s writing the script, I think they’re all legends. So I’m just very excited.
Edwards has shown his capability of handling a big-budget feature and infusing it with a great story and emotion. The newJurassic Worldfilm will star Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Mahershala Ali, Luna Blaise, and David Iacono.
The film will hit theatres on August 11, 2025.
