Animal Crossingfans have been begging for some new information or footage on theupcoming Switch release ofNew Horizonsfor what seems to be months at this point. Finally, Nintendo has answered the call, albeit, not in the way that many may have wanted.

Recently, Nintendo released a new ad for the Nintendo Switch Lite which showed off some new looks atAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. The ad centers around a mother and daughter, both of whom own a Switch Lite. The two are playingAnimal Crossing: New Horizonson their respective handhelds before then agreeing to get together and play the game together thanks to itsmultiplayer functionality. While the commercial is only about 30 seconds in length, it’s a rather wholesome ad.

As for the actual snippets ofNew Horizonsfootage that we can see, we get a look at what seems to be the game’s main menu along with some brief decorating. We can also see some bug catching and the outside of one of the player’s homes. Again, it’s nothing too wild, butAnimal Crossinghas never been a wild series when it comes to gameplay. Except for, I guess,Wild World– that game is quite literally wild.

Along with releasing this newAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsad recently, Nintendo also unveiled thenewAnimal Crossing-themed Switchthat will be launching alongside the game. The Special Edition version of the console comes with some a Switch dock that features Tom Nook, some pastel green and blue colored Joy-Cons, and some wonderful artwork imprinted on the back of the Switch itself. Perhaps the only downside to this version of the Switch is that it doesn’t come withNew Horizons, which is pretty odd. Still, it’s something that I’m sure manyAnimal Crossingfans will be looking to pick up come March. If you’re interested in getting it for yourself, the console actually just went up forpre-order on Amazontoday.

Animal Crossing: New Horizonsis set to finally land on the Nintendo Switch later this spring on August 24, 2025.
