Ana de Armas is joining theJohn Wickuniverse with her own spin on the franchise:Ballerina. The project was officially announced in 2022, with a synopsis that follows Rooney, a ballerina training in an all-female assassin school to hunt the killers of her family.
The movie suffered delays because of reshoots, but the actress wants the audience not to fret about it. In fact, she teased what to expect from her own version ofJohn Wick. Keanu Reeves reportedly has a cameo in the film.

Now, she’s debuting in theJohn Wickfranchise as Rooney in the spinoffBallerina. The character isn’t entirely new as Unity Phelan played the role inJohn Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. She was the ballerina performing onstage at the ballet academy whenKeanu Reeves’ character visited The Director, the leader of the Ruska Roma crime syndicate.
Speaking withCollider, de Armas raved about how much she loves the film’s producer,Chad Stahelski, who also helmed theJohn Wickmovies. She revealed they had reshoots, but nothing too big to worry about. A trailer will soon be released, and according to the 36-year-old star:
It’s dangerous, it’s s*xy, it’s very John Wick. I think people are going to be surprised.
TheJohn Wickuniverse is incredibly expanding due to its popularity and demand from fans. The events in the upcoming film will take place between the third and fourth chapters, which is why Wick is still alive, at least based on what viewers have seen at the end of Chapter 4.
