But her unique humor has continued to stay a part of her off-screen life. Back in an old interview, she spilled the beans on a humorous anecdote from her past that could have taken a very serious turn. Recalling a terrifying stroke in her early years, she reflected on how it almost landed her ex-boyfriend into serious trouble.

Sharing how she felt at the time, she continued,

Aubrey Plazawent on to add that her stroke almost ended up landing her then-boyfriend in jail. Revealing that while she was unable to say some words, there were some that she couldn’t stop uttering. She added,

When I was in the hospital they kept asking me how old I was. My older, much older boyfriend at the time was there with me kind of fielding these questions from the doctors. And every time they asked me how old I was I would go ’16’ which was the only number I could say, I don’t know why.

She continued that her then-older boyfriend tried to correct them by telling the real age, but her light-hearted re-telling of the story focused much on her stroke incident. However, mistakenly saying 16, she almost caused trouble for her ex-boyfriend, leading to potential legal complications.

Internet Reacts to Aubrey Plaza’s Stroke Story

TheLegionstarnarrated her terrifying medical situation in her unique comedy style. Her anecdote subtly touched on the significant issue of dating minors, which in her case, was nothing but a misunderstanding due to her condition.

The age of consent varies by state, generally ranging from 16 to 18 years. Engaging in a relationship with someone below the age of consent could lead to grave consequences.

Taking note of the situation, online commentators reflected upon the same in the comments section of the YouTube shorts.

One userwrote,“Almost got that man locked up when she said 16.”Another shared,“Her boyfriend must’ve been sweating bullets when she said 16 lol.”

A third wrote,“Dr: you know sir, 16 gets you 10 right? Him: wtf! She 20!”A fourth user commented,“When she say’s 16 it’s time to run.”

Although, she presented the situation light-heartedly, the laws surrounding the age of consent and the potential criminal charges for dating minors are quite serious. Engaging in a relationship with a minor can lead to suspicion of statutory r*pe, resulting in imprisonment and fines.

These laws are intended to protect minors from exploitation and abuse, which is considered a serious crime in several states. Individuals prosecuted under it can face jail time, ranging anywhere between 1-10 years in addition to the penalty of $100,000 and more, in the case of serious offenses, as per theWilson Law Firm.

While her tale was a perfectly crafted narrative to present her situation hilariously, it also became a reminder of a significant issue of dating a minor.
