If you’re like me, you’ve been hoping that Remedy Entertainment would at some point create a sequel to its 2010 action-adventure titleAlan Wake. Turns out, Remedy was working on that exact project at one time, but unfortunately, it just didn’t work out.

This news comes by way ofVG247who recently spoke to a representative from Remedy at PAX East. Talking with the company’s director of communications Thomas Puha, it was said that a proper sequel toAlan Wakesequel was being developed a few years ago before it fell apart. “We were working onAlan Wake 2years ago and it just didn’t pan out, so there’s nothing – we’re just booked solid for the next couple of years, really,” Puha said.

He went on to clarify that Remedy does own the property if they ever did want to make a sequel, but also acknowledged there are other complications. “We do own theAlan WakeIP, but it’s never quite as simple as that, but yeah, we do own it.”

As of now, Remedy is obviously working onControl, which is slated to launch later this summer. Even though the game hasn’t released yet, Puha acknowledged that if all goes well, it’s a property they’d hope to work on for the long haul. “We’ve got nothing against sequels, so definitelyControlis something that we want to be working on in the future. But of course, the first game has to be as good as it can to even build that platform that we can make more, so that’s what we’re focused on.”

Puha continued saying, “But at least we are the ones making it, and we’re really trying to verify that we get to make moreControl. That’s the hope. Of course, that was the hope withAlan Wake, and these things didn’t really work out, but hopefully we’ve learned from that.”

Whether or notControlgets a sequel remains to be seen, but if ourearly hands-on impressionsare any indication, it’s shaping up to be quite good. We’ll see how it pans out later this year when the game releases on August 27 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
