There will be no newDragon Ballsagas without transformations. Series creator Akira Toriyama first popularized it with the iconic Super Saiyan form back in the Frieza saga. And now, in almost every arc of Dragon Ball Super, there’s a new transformation. So much so that fans have become sick of it.
It’s refreshing to see Goku going back to his roots by using his Nyoibo again to defeat his opponents and unleash the first Super Saiyan form in case things get a little dicey. The Granolah arc inDragon Ball Superexplored the real identity of the Saiyans and inDAIMA, they could very well explain the real origins of the entire race. If that’s the case, Goku could very well get his own Demon Saiyan form.
Super Saiyan 4 becoming canon inDragon Ball?
There’s a theory that is going around in the community that Super Saiyan 4 might be returning with a canon-status inDAIMA. According toDragon BallYouTuber@Geekdom101, there’s a character known as Werewolf that fans can see inthe main trailer.
If fans look closely into his eyes, the color of those eyeballs and the black strokes underneath them resemble the eyes ofGoku’s Super Saiyan 4. So the theory states that the Werewolf character can bite into Goku and that can triggerDAIMA‘s version of Super Saiyan 4.

The form could resemble the design of Goku’s transformation in the “LEGEND – A DRAGON BALL TALE” fan animation, where Goku used his emotions to unleash a form that looks like Sun Wukong’s. Since Goku is created from Sun Wukong, it’s possible that his ultimate form could parallel Sun Wukong’s enlightenment inJourney to the West.
The chances for the Super Saiyan 4 as it is to be canon are less.Dragon Ballproducer Akio Iyoku affirmed to fans in an interviewthatDAIMAand its story will be different fromDragon Ball GT. What’s more, the form will be rendered useless if it’s not stronger than Ultra Instinct so it would be pointless forAkira Toriyamato have it inDAIMA.
Toriyama never created Super Saiyan 4 for GT
Super Saiyan 4 was originally created by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, the character designer and animator for Dragon Ball Z and GT. A lot of fans assumed after viewing the following image that Toriyama had created Super Saiyan 4 Goku, but it was in fact drawn by Nakatsuru.
However, Toriyama did think the form was cool and could have added his own spin to it forDragon Ball DAIMA.Vegeta is rumored to be finally turning Super Saiyan 3inDAIMA. So if he gets a new form, so will Goku. That’s just how the marketing team and toy companies will benefit.
The concept of a Demonized Super Saiyan 4 does sound cool. TheDragon Ball GT: Perfect File guidebook states that Saiyans were originally Great Apes who gained intelligence and took on a humanoid form. Additionally, the ancient Saiyans on planet Sadala possessed a different type ofkifrom the ones in the present time, as mentioned by Whis inDragon Ball Legends.
This means that the Saiyans were originally from the Demon Realm and had demonic Ki, which was sensed by both Krillin and Yajirobi when they saw Vegeta’s Oozaru form back in the Saiyan Saga.
