The following article contains spoilers for Baldur’s Gate 3.ABaldur’s Gate 3player has stumbled upon a tweet from the game’s composer and music director Borislav Slavov that may explain why Raphael got a full-fledged lyrical performance accompanying his boss fight.
Asposted on Reddit by user Rezzekki, in 2020, an early-access player asked Slavov if they modelled Raphael after the composer. The cambion had a slightly different haircut back then, reminiscent of Slavov’s long hair. While Slavov doubted this was the case, he did promise to give Raphael special musical attention.

Well, whether Slavov actually remembered this interaction and acted upon it or always planned to give Raphael an extra special track is unknown. Still, regardless, ‘Raphael’s Final Act’ proved a big hit among Baldur’s Gate 3 players.

Hearing Raphael destroy me lyrically while he physically destroyed my party was unexpected at first, there’s no doubt that it made the boss fight very memorable. I’llleave this herejust in case you’re struggling to beat the archdevil’s heir.
Slavov is hoping that Baldur’s Gate 3 willreceive a nominationfor the ‘Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games and Other Interactive Media’ Grammy award.

‘I Want to Live’, another song from Baldur’s Gate 3’s OST, was nominated for the Hollywood Music in Media award for ‘Best Original Song - Video Game’ during its early access period in 2021. The eventual award winner was Cody Matthew Johnson and Shim for Resident Evil 2 Remake’s ‘Saudade’. I’m sure Baldur’s Gate 3 will be in the conversation for many of the upcoming music in media awards, such as The Game Awards ‘Best Score & Music’ category.
Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to maintain its incredible popularity since its release in August, still maintaining an average of 100k players daily according toSteamCharts.
