DualShockers is happy to announce we’ll be doing a Let’s Play for13 Sentinels Aegis Rimon PS4.13 Sentinelslaunched in Japan on November 28, and I’m recording myself as I discover the game and translate the dialogue. We’ll be publishing videoes every weekend as I play through the game. This Let’s Play will be a great opportunity for you to learn about13 Sentinelsand see how interesting it is because no western release date has been confirmed.
13 Sentinels Aegis Rimis the latest game from Vanillaware.13 Sentinelsis also a joint venture with Atlus, making Vanillaware go back to its roots seeing Director George Kamitani and his team used to be part of the studio behind theMegami Tenseiand thePersonaseries.
Just like its name suggests,13 Sentinels Aegis Rimfeatures 13 protagonists, who fight in giant mecha called the Sentinels, in order to save humanity from an alien invasion. The game has time travel, memory manipulation, other dimensions, and tons of other sci-fi stuff. It’s heavily inspired by classics such asE.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Back to the Future,andTotal Recall, along with many Japanese sci-fi live-action shows and anime. Most of the protagonists themselves are sci-fi fans, and they often bring up how similar their situation is with their favorite works, all while never stepping into the obnoxious.
13 Sentinels Aegis Rim’s huge number of protagonists and sci-fi themes might make it seem like an overcomplicated game, but it isn’t the case at all. This Let’s Play is also here to prove that.
Vanillaware is the studio behindPrincess Crown, Odin Sphere, Dragon’s Crown, andMuramasa. However,13 Sentinelsisn’t an action RPG like all these but an adventure game, as in it’s similar to a visual novel. As for the battle system, it’s a tactical RPG, with a mix of turn-based, real-time, and tower defense elements. I’m sure you’ll be able to see its charm with our Let’s Play.
