Being a big fan of Soulslike games, I am not against using any type of weapon in a fight. While the traditional Soulslike games make you use melee weapons, with the most range being a bow or a spell, some allow you to bring a gun to a sword fight.

Nowadays, some of my favorite Soulslike titles allow you to use guns. Subsequently, some of them are evenmore difficult than the games that started the genresince their gunplay can be such a challenge to truly master.

Disappointing Soulslikes

10 Most Disappointing Soulslikes, Ranked

FromSoft may never drop the ball, but all those trying to follow their formula have done so with mixed results.

If you want to go down this route, be prepared to discover some interesting titles that you might not have expected in the Soulslike genre. Of course, there will be some obvious picks if you know the genre well enough, too.

Bloodborne Hunter standing in Cainhurst

The term firearm or gun can be described very loosely, with many adding that a cannon can be considered a gun. On this, I say that a cannon is not a firearm and will not be considered for this list. This means games like Elden Ring will not apply since there are no traditional guns or firearms outside the cannon.

10Bloodborne

Guns Are Needed

Bloodborne

Fextralife Wiki

FromSoftware has a knack for making amazing Souls games; after all, they made the genre. One game this developer made requires the use of guns if you want a viable build, and it isBloodborne.

Bloodborne is a fairlyunderrated Soulsliketo me and one of my favorites of all time. Of course, I can’t place it high on this list because it is a FromSoftware game, and it feels like cheating a bit. Still, I’d argue it falls outside of the normal Souls series and still qualifies.

Fighting a Massive Monster in KIBORG

Nearly every build that you create in this game requires guns, and its unique parry system makes full use of these firearms to bring enemies down and make them vulnerable. No, you don’t use the firearms to deal heavy damage, but good luck against some of these bosses without their stagger.

Guns Galore

Kiborg is more aligned with a beat-em-up than a traditional Soulslike. In this one, you go into a tower and attempt to fight your way through to freedom, all while being bombarded by tons of enemies.

What makes this a Soulslike is the traditional parry system and difficult boss fights. With that being said, you acquire a lot of firearms throughout your runs, with each of them being necessary if you want to survive.

Let It Die Uncle Death With Board

Personally,I had a blast playing Kiborg, even if it is a bit wonky at times. The combat is solid, and the gunplay is pretty addictive with plenty of cool options to blast away with and flesh out your build.

8Let It Die

Bizarre Guns

Let It Die

Let it Dieis quite the bizarre Soulslike title. It features a weird character named Uncle Death who gives you a simple task: reach the top of the tower.

This game is full of strange interactions, fast-paced combat, and guns… Lots of guns. These aren’t your typical guns, however. There are welding guns, firework launchers, and drill guns. Don’t worry, there are plenty of standard firearms for those who want them, like shotguns and assault rifles too.

Flintlock The Siege Of Dawn Nor Vanek Preparing For Combat

If you want a game that doesn’t take itself seriously, and you want to get a good laugh, you should check this one out.

7Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

Trusty Sidearm

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

Admittedly, I had forgotten that Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn existed for a little while since it fell off the radar for a bit, but I picked it up again recently and heavily enjoyed the exploration and combat. One of the main features of the game is that you have a sidearm that you can flow into your attacks during combat.

You get two main guns in this game, one being your sidearm and the other being a rifle for more long-ranged combat. Your sidearm is the one you will mostly be using, hitting enemies with it to stun them and then chaining other attacks to recharge your bullets, but the rifle is great for sniping enemies from afar that you might not want to deal with.

It might not be the best Soulslike game, but it offers a unique world with a fresh combat style that feels more rhythmic than the standard hack-and-slash.

6Stellar Blade

That Arm Cannon

Stellar Blade

If you are in the mood for a game with a fun sci-fi setting and fantastic gameplay, look no further thanStellar Blade. It has the essence of a Souls game and plenty of genre staples, but is presented as a fast-paced, post-apocalyptic adventure.

The blistering fast combat of Stellar Blade is far different than the traditional Soulslike, but it is extremely fun once you get the hang of it. Of the many weapons you get, you have access to a rifle, a shotgun, and a missile launcher.

Unfortunately, while the gunplay is fun in Stellar Blade, it’s not a real necessity to use it, and it doesn’t do much in most fights. Still, the option is there if you want to try it out.

5Remnant: From the Ashes

Dark Souls, With Guns

Remnant: From the Ashes

If you want great gunplay, look no further thanRemnant: From the Ashes. There is a reason this game was labeled as “Dark Souls with guns,“as it isa great hybridof third-person shooter and hardcore action-adventure genres.

10 Best Games Like Bloodborne

Don’t worry about defense, because if you don’t act first, your enemy will.

The difficult combat, unforgiving world, and nerve-wracking boss fights will keep you on edge as you explore the post-apocalyptic environments and discover theinteresting story buried beneath.Since this game is mostly focused on guns, expect swarms of foes to have to manage at once.

Trust me when I say that Remnant is worth trying out if you are a Souls fan, even if you’re typically not into shooters.

4Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

If you have ever wanted to be a part of the Star Wars universe, one of the best games that has come out of the franchise in a long time isStar Wars Jedi: Survivor— the sequel to Fallen Order. Gunplay isn’t the main focus of this game, as that title obviously belongs to your lightsaber. Still, your blaster is an option.

You have access to a combat mechanic called Blaster Stance that allows you to whip out your blaster and use it to shoot enemies while you slice them up with your lightsaber. It is a unique fighting style that no other Star Wars game has utilized, and it really helps sell the ‘lone warrior fighting for survival’ aspect of the story.

You’ll probably want to work through Fallen Order before you jump into Survivor, but both games are well worth your time.

3Remnant 2

New And Improved

Now that I have covered Remnant, it is time to talk aboutRemnant 2.Admittedly, there isn’t much to say about this game outside of what I said about its predecessor, except for the fact that Remnant 2 is just better in pretty much every way.

The gunplay is very tight, everything is kept very much the same with a great explorable world that changes with each playthrough, and the team also expanded on the class system that the first game started.

There isn’t anything that the first Remnant game did that the second didn’t improve upon, making ita great sequelthat is worth trying out if you like the original and want more things to shoot.

2Code Vein

Anime Dark Souls

If you like anime action games, you might likeCode Vein. While I am not the biggest fan of other anime titles, Code Vein stood out to me because of its Soulslike combat and world exploration.

The game features the same death respawn as Dark Souls, along with difficult enemies that crowd the world and unforgiving boss battles that will undoubtedly need to be repeated a few times.

8 Best Souls-Likes With Co-op

Discover the best Souls-like games with co-op, from brutal combat to deep RPG mechanics. Team up with friends and take on challenging enemies together

One of the weapon types you get to choose from is bayonet rifles. What makes this game more interesting than others is that you may use your gun as a melee weapon and then jump back and shoot with it if you desire. I really don’t understand why this game wasrated as poorly as it was, and I think many fans of the genre would enjoy it if they gave it a shot.

1Lies of P

Dark Pinocchio

This is where I delve into the “loose” definition of firearm that I mentioned at the start of the list.Lies of Pdoesn’t have traditional firearms, but it does feature various guns that you can equip in the form of Legion Arms.

The base game featured a rifle arm called Falcon Eyes that lets you blast foes from a distance, as well as a Flamethrower arm. Thanks to the Overture DLC, you can now get a shotgun arm called Cataclysm.

Some of my favorite Legion Arms are the guns, which is why I put this game on the list. It is ranked so high thanks to its amazing dedication to being a Soulslike title, fantastic story inspired by Pinocchio, and beautifully crafted world, all from anindie studio that’s doing it almost as well as FromSoftware themselves.
